Thanks for making the topic. I was going to add a bit more information for those interested in such detail-y things:
Upon popular demand, we've launched an official MFGG Discord group, and we'd like for you to check it out! This group is being run on an experimental basis, so we'll keep it around as long as it's helping to make MFGG a better place.
Why it's here: The Discord group is a complement to the MFGG forums and mainsite, not a replacement. For example, it's a great place for getting help on a WIP sprite in real time. It is not a gallery for showcasing finished projects, so be sure to make a dedicated topic for your work, especially for finished work.
Who can join: The Discord group is open to anyone who has a Discord account. Feel free to invite cool people who aren't MFGG members to participate on the Discord - and feel free to encourage Discord participants to become active on the forums and mainsite.
Rules: The rules for our Discord group mirror the forum rules and posting guidelines. The same things that might get you warned or banned on the forums might get you kicked or banned on the Discord. The outside dispute rule also applies - don't use the Discord as a way to bash people who aren't part of the chat.
Bans: The forums and Discord are treated as separate entities. Forum bans don't carry over to the Discord, and getting banned on the Discord won't get you warned or banned on the forums. That said, if you're frequently causing trouble on the Discord, we might watch you more closely on the forums - and vice versa.
Staff: Currently, the Discord moderators are Cruise Elroy, Dustin, HylianDev, and myself. When we launched the group, we gave staff positions to any forum mods who were interested in helping on the Discord. Depending on how active things are, we may promote some Discord-specific moderators. If you'd like to be a Discord mod, we're looking for people who are level-headed and are good at stimulating positive activity in the MFGG community. Being able to cover the "night shift" - the hours when most of our North American staff members are asleep - is a nice bonus. If y'all ask nicely enough and make a cool badge image, Discord mods might get a special "Discord Mod" badge.
No Discord-exclusive events: Participating in the Discord group is totally optional. You won't miss out on news, announcements, competitions, and other important things if you choose not to participate in the Discord. You also don't have to be in the Discord group if you want to be a staff member on the forums or mainsite. It's possible that we might use the Discord voice channel sometime if we play an online game, but even then, using Discord isn't a requirement for that.
We're still fine-tuning the Discord formula, so if you have any comments or suggestions, please fire away.
