Alright guys, it's about time we have that Smash Bros. tournament. Smash Bros. is a game that is very versatile in the way it's played and everyone has their favorite way of playing Smash. Therefore, please understand that this tournament won't be able to cater to your every wish, but listening around MFGG, I put together this ruleset which I hope is a nice compromise between all the possible types of interest, and since there is no monetary prize involved, I hope that the fun of playing with a lot of people in a competitive environment weighs higher than the desire for 100% fairness. The more people participate, the more fun it will be for everyone and most importantly we'll be able to learn from the experience for potential future tournaments, especially the inevitable Smash U tournament Tournament Bracket (created with Challonge): Please read these rules: Rules wrote: Tournament mode:- Smash Bros. version is obviously Super Smash Bros. for 3DS
- 1-vs-1
- Pairings will be available in the tournament's topic, starting Friday afternoon (in American timezones).
- Look up who you're up against, and if that person is available you can just meet and fight.
- If a match is unable to happen and one player is clearly the reason, the other wins by default.
- If a match is unable to happen and no one is to blame, we'll try to find a solution on the spot.
- If you so desire, find a third player who will act as a referee and self destructs in the beginning of the match.
Match rules:- You play 3 games, winner is the one who wins twice
- Each game is 2 stocks, no time limit
- Stage: Battlefield
- Items: Smash Ball only, *except* for the final and 3rd place game.
- You have to specify two characters you will use by the beginning of your first match
- You can choose for each game which of these two you will take
- Customizations and Mii characters are allowed, but only custom moves (and default moves of course).
- Anything that's not specified here is the default setting in online mode
- If BOTH players agree, you can change these rules to whatever you want as long as you both agree 100%.
If you like these rules, please post here before Friday the 24th to participate. As said, the schedule is relatively lax and there is no ultimate deadline for when the tournament has to end. So please enter, even if you're not yet sure when you will have time, because you will probably have time eventually. If you see a (game breaking) flaw or lack of specification in these rules, please mention it, until the registration closes, we'll be able to adjust the rules a bit.
