Everything engine related goes here.

- Updates to the engine worth posting (and don't contain spoilers)
- Bug reports
- Suggestions to improve things you didn't like when playing
- etc.

So yeah, found some time to work on it again, and thus I present you a screenshot:

Which reminds me:
Do you see this gray border around the map?
This is supposed to look a little nicer, so if you're a spriter, just grab this screenshot and change the grey border to whatever you want, and if it's good (and faster than Chaoxys makes it), it ends up in the game.

I have a feeling that Chaoxys has been done for a few hours already, let me go check the SVN

Am I that predictable?

Haha :)

It's nice, but a bit... pale? I'd like the sprites to be light, and the bg to be dark. So, the opposite of how it is right now.

I could probably do that. We actually plan on changing it a bit more later so that it's color matches the theme of the world you are in.

Edit- Just to have it listed out, heres the problems with the Rain Forest enemies
Glopper Bopper (I'll just call him this, or Bopper for now on) doesn't run through his idle as of right now, and instead of standing in place and knocking Mario flying, he bounces back while Mario stays still. (But Guinea already knows this, I'm just typing all this to avoid doing homework.)

Also, this isn't a glitch or anything with him, but when attacked in any way shape or form, he should probably just flail about instead of flipping.

Sharlea- If you kill her, she flies away... literally, she floats off into the wild blue yonder. Also, she doesn't respawn which makes the level far too easy (I'd say she should respawn 10 - 15 seconds later if possible).

Also, when she turns around after missing you, she should have a little less traction since there are some secrets under the water.

Hey Guinea, this may or may not be a problem. Also, you can sometimes pop up facing away from him.

Also, if possible, can you add a few more Toad NPC variations when you have time? Like more kids and some females?

Also I plan on adding a shop keeper toad so expect to see him in the SVN folder (we won't be able to use him to run the shop at first, but I'll have him outside the shop saying it's closed for right now).

Oh right you deleted your INI.
Please go to the DSe menu and turn on the "I have rectangle glitch" option. That draws all rectangles one pixel further and fixes this problem.

And that will make it so Mario can't jump/get stuck in the air during that cutscene?

Or where you talking about the thing on the text box? I was wondering what was up with that.

Oh THAT you mean. I was talking about the textbox. And yes, that is because you have to set an option and since you deleted your INI that setting was lost. Just re-set that.

As for Mario getting stuck in the air, I'll think of something...

Oh, the "Santa" Toad should probably say facial hair instead of beard since Mario doesn't have a beard. Also, the Toad I added in level 1 explains the healing system with the DSe which is important, but it's too long. Is there anyway to bypass the word limit?

EDIT- Hurray for cookie Mario and his ability to 1shot a boss. It's actually rather funny, although a bit game breaking.

Ok, I'll look into it.

And lol, yea cookie overpowers you a lot. We'd need a way to make such items more or less useless when you fight a boss.
Don't really want to deactivate the DSe during boss fights since I can't think of a good reason (even in Mario terms).
Making bosses immune to Starmen would be an easy fix I guess.
Oh well, if someone has an idea let me know.

Well, theres always my idea of making it a weaker version of the starman. You're invincible, but you can't take out enemies by touching them.

Yea, still the inventory is danger for bosses in general, e.g. the POW and possible other items.

Maybe have specific items blocked off?

Well I guess it would be ok to just have specific items blocked in a mode called "boss mode". Isn't that the case in Yoshi's Island anyway?

I don't remember if YI did that, I haven't played in years. Either way we could still just make bosses immune to certain items if nothing else works.

If we can make them immune, then we can also block items. And I think blocking items is simpler to execute and makes just as much sense.

Alright, although we are just talking blocking attack items right? I mean you should be able to heal if need be.

Also, We should have E. Gadd boss related hints if you contact him.

Yeah. We're just blocking game breaking items, such as the POW, the cookie, and similar items.
