Nope, he's as tall as his basic sprite. It may look like it thought because his mouth is open which is blocking some of his body which may be giving the allusion that he's shorter.

Well, due to an unfortunate series of events, I have been fired from my job, so now I'll have plenty of time to sprite I guess...

Well that sucks, I know how it feels to lose a job. Hope you find a job you'll like soon.

Well I used my time off yesterday to finish the jungle tileset. I won't show it now as I feel seeing it in pieces wouldn't do it justice, but I will say something interesting that more or less came about because of it. Basically, the tilesets will all be in MM style (obviously), but the actual design choices will changed based on how much life is in the environment. The more "alive" the area would be, the more stylistic and vibrant it will be where as "dead" areas will use more basic shapes and designs.

For example, the desert levels are mainly made up of squares and use more realistic designs, like with the palm tree. On the other hand, the jungle looks like this:

I feel this will give a bit of a more interesting feel to the worlds themselves. Also, that mock up is a bit old so some things may have been updated since then.

I like the design of those palm trees and the honeycomb-patterned ground underneath. Would it be alright if I based some tiles in my water tileset off them?

Sure, I don't see why not.

Man, The sprites for this game are so great, it's also cool thinking about how much effort is put in to them... Makes me get excited to see the final product

Glad you like them. I really should get back to work on them at some point soon since I have so much free time.

Agreed. The sprites and such are all so professional. I'm not just saying this to flatter, it is true, these look better than a lot of Nintendo's sprites (no offence to them). The smooth animations and style are just stunning.

Haven't uploaded a graphic recently.

I call it Beezerk (it's more or less replacing an enemy of the same name that I made years ago for the game). Made it more for fun than anything else since I haven't run it by Guinea yet, but the general idea is that there would be little beehive spawners that spawn one of these once (one at a time per hive on screen). Past that they work like Boo, except they don't hide form you, and you can kill them.

This is actually an update of a sprite I posted a while back, I believe it was on the old MFGG... or maybe it was on TsR?

Very impressive on the machine (especially the chrome-ish feeling.) You have never failed to amuse us.

Seriously, these graphics are better than any official 2D Mario game

Heh, glad you guys like the sprite. Guinea and I were talking over some ideas for the sprite so I felt like fixing it up a bit.

@CouchTomato- Idk if I'd go that far, but thanks either way.

EDIT- Nothing beats working on a single layer of a detailed BG for 4+ hours, straight into the early morning!

Bluh, I don't even know what I want to do with the rest of the layers yet. I'll decide after I get some sleep.

Still a WIP? Idk, maybe, I'm actually kinda happy with it honestly. It has an empty yet trippy feel to it that I enjoy.
