This topic is about graphics. Spriters post their WIPs ITT so people can comment on them.
Finished/usable graphics go to the SVN repository (see appropriate topic).

I don't remember writing that, but it says I did so I better make a tutorial.

I'll say this right now, the tutorial will cover the basics but it's really showing my steps to the style, and since everyone sprites differently, a lot of it will come down to trial and error.

I'm not too good at explaining things, so I'll tell you the truth, a lot of this style is just practicing. Make some sprites, post them, and I'll help you improve them.

When I saw umbrelloid, I feel like working on that pig cannon enemy on SML 2. I'm currently doing it. Maybe you can use it? Hehe.

Looks close. I'd try to avoid using so much of the main outline color inside of the sprite (to actually outline that is, using it as an actual color is fine). The front leg also looks odd, like it's crumpling.

The top is original, and there are 2 versions I can't which looks better.
And what characters in the game are unfinished. I want to give em a try or I'll just continue the Pig Cannon if you guys use it.

"A" looks good. You can continue it btw because we could probably use it. If you can think of anything for world 2 then go for it (world 2 is a desert with ruins and what not).

Can I use the SML 2 walking or a complex walk that you usually do? For the SML 2 walk, it goes from idle then raises front feet with back feet at diagonal positon. Or would I use Step both left, pause, Step both right, pose, etc?

IMO as long as the animation is fluid, it works, so try to make at least 4 or 6 frames.
But then again, I'm just the programmer, so better wait for Chaoxys' response if you're unsure.

Do a full walk like all the other sprites do. I mean if you can't thats fine, but it would fit better.

Hey Guinea just a heads up, I made the new part of the underwater BG (I'm not sure how much should be visible so I guess you can play with it till you get a good amount). Also, on the Toad Brigade sheet, I added standing sprites for after you knock the switch out of their hands.

It kind of looks like an edit of the original. It's also a bit stiff. If you look at, say, Snifit from Yoshi's Island, it has some kickback when it fires a bullet. This is what the pig needs, in addition to an upgrade to the style.
It's also facing forward while all the other sprites for the game are facing slightly toward the screen. I suggest using this as a reference;

Hell, maybe make some of the pigs enormous to take advantage of the giant cannonballs from SMB3?

It's a bit too small for one, also, you should use more contrast on the shades, aside from that, you'll also want to smoothen out the line art and what not.

So with these new forums, I'd actually like to start helping spriting things (nothing huge) for the project, but these new boards lack a master list.

I've never been good at editing someone else's work, but this is at least a step in the right direction, although you were getting close either way.

The most important things have already been done, so we're at the moment working on a "what we need next" basis, since Chaoxys is mostly spriting alone. But if you join us as a spriter, we might be in need of such a list again. To join, just chat one of us up and we give you access to the SVN so you can try the game, look at the graphics we have at the moment and then we can come up with new stuff that needs to be done for later chapters.
