Mkay so I haven't shown anything in a while but I'm still working on stuff. I've been making an alt grassland sheet, mainly for jungles, islands, and possibly sky levels. I've also made some random objects.

Oh, I'm also redoing the Buzzy Beetle sheet for the millionth time. I plan on adding a few subspecies so we have the option of using them.

I was thinking, what if Buster Beetles, along with throwing ice blocks, also function like Blue Beached Koopas in SMW (beached koopas are the ones without shells). As in, if you throw a shell at them, they will catch it and kick it back.

EDIT- Added the Beetle sheet. It includes Standard Buzzys, Spike Tops, Busters, ParaBeetles, and and updated Spiny + spiny egg.

All the updates are based off of their most up to date designs aside from Buster Beetle who hasn't really shown up recently, so I did the best I could with him.

Tomorrow I'd like to start of Fence climbing sprites for Koopas, as well as flipped climbing for the Bros.

Yay visuals.

Lets see, we have:
Tap Tap (mainly made him for fun, although he could be useful)
Bully (I've shown this before but the full sheet is up now)
Buzzy Beetle/Spike Top/Spiny revised
Buster Beetle- Like I said in my previous post, I'd love for him to function like he did in SMB3, and how the blue koopa acts in SMW
Para Beetle
Monty Mole- I'm going with a SM64 style of attack where he tosses rocks.
Mega Mole- He tosses a larger rock that I guess would bounce some (like the rocks that Charging Chuck sent at you in SMW)
Booguile (based off of "beguile" which means to essentially fool someone)- if you grab a fake coin, it will spring out of the ground and try to hit you, after which it will disappear. I'm thinking it's range would be about... 7 blocks in length, and probably 3 or 4 high.

Out of all of these, Tap Tap and Booguile are the least needed, I was just bored.

I think that Booguile is a very good idea, you should definately put it in.

For anyone who wants to make anything, this is just a heads up, the new outline default is the one used on Luigi (the dark dark gray one).

Also, if anyone wants to sprite some sheets, talk to me via PM or MSN and I'll tell you what we need. I could tell you here but a lot of it would involve spoilers.

EDIT-I hate the blue used on Mario's pants, as well as the bright pink highlights on his hat, so I made 2 alternate options.
Image

Replaced the pink with an orange highlight and I made 2 random blue palettes. THe one on the left is the original. THe two on the right "Lets call them A and B", are the new ones. A is a darker pallette, fits with general denim jeans. The second is a slightly more vibrant, less dull version of the original. Any thoughts? Either way I'd like to replace the colors soon (if we go with that) so if you read this please respond so I can have some opinions soon.

@ Guinea- Sorry to bug you, I know you are busy, but I need to know if you have a sheet with the Brick Block on it because I can't find it in the SVN graphics folder and I need it so I can make an alt. underground version since, as far as I can tell, when used underground, brick blocks are always blue. This goes from the original SMB up to NSMBWii.

Ripped from the gmk and uploaded a sheet (bricks.png).

The one in the middle looks best imo.

Alright guys, I'm probably going to take a break from spriting for this for a little while, at least until Guinea has some free time to work on the engine (Not rushing you Guinea, it's just that without progress in other fields, my overall motivation goes down), so if anyone wants to take a shot at making graphics, go for it, it doesn't matter what you make. Make an enemy, tiles, a background, pretty much anything could be of use, or you can ask about things we might need (specify what you'd like to try, be it tiles, sprites, or backgrounds).

Also, even though I won't be making anything new, I'll be more than happy to help others get their sprites in style.

I'm just going to make a list of sheets that need to be updated in the engine:
Mario (Full sheet)
Waluigi
Fire Waluigi
Bob-ombs
Special level tiles
Spikes (It's a new sheet, not the original one)
Train/Ship tileset
Peach
Buzzy Beetles (and all relatives)
Spinys (I think I updated the eggs as well)
Brick Blocks (Not really updated, I just added different versions, like underground ones)
Forest Background
Desert Background (Just added some different parts to it)
Sewer Tileset (I think I updated that)
Ruin tileset
Tanoomba
Desert cloud BG (due to the dot error)
Haunted Grounds Tiles (added various ground tiles)
Alt Grass Tiles (added various ground tiles)
Haunted House tiles (added ice cover tiles so we can make any normal tile into a slippery version.
Skyguys (the ones that hold the Anvils. I fixed a flashing pixel on them.)

Aside from that I've added a few sheets to the folder that could be of use in chapter 2/would be useful if I could play around with them to make sure they work well and look good. They include:

Volcano Lotus
Lil'Sparky
Hot Head
*Hotspot (Original enemy)
**Castle tileset

*Not needed for chapter2
**Not needed for chapter 2, I'd just like to test them though.

EDIT- To be clear, the Tanoomba update is simply on the Thwomp form since the main thwomp sprite has been updated.

When I'm done with a few personal projects, I might take you up on that. I've wanted to contribute more to this project than just the stuff I did near the conception stages, but the whole "SVN" thing seemed daunting and discouraged me from getting further involved.

Ok, practice CFP style... again.
Image
Ta-daaah? It's Spike.
Is it CFP-ish enough? And is the animation... smooth? Hehe, I tried this just to shoo away boredom.
I have to admit, the ball is ...ugly. It is not in the NSMBWii variation. I might update it. It's just a simple recolor anyway :whoops:

It's a fairly good start. Would you mind if I make an edit to help you get it closer to the style?

As for the spike ball, there should be a new one in the SVN.

If you'd rather take a shot at it yourself, thats fine. I'd suggest cleaning up the shading as it's looking a bit on the pillowed side. Also, remember that the main outline color is the same as used on Luigi (you can find it on the tutorial), not black. Also, his feet are looking rather large.

Cleaned it up a bit. Only real custom addition is the custom feet.

Gee, thanks! Is that going to be used in the game? Oh, and are you going to fix all sprites? And am I gonna be included in the credits? Bah, so many questions. Sorry! Anyway, the edit's awesome!

If you make a sheet.
If people want my help then yes I will edit the sprites.
I guess, I mean, it's an edit off of your base so I guess you'd get credit.

Granted thats all provided we use it. We already have an undead version fully make, plus a WIP sheet of Giant Monty Mole who I plan on throwing a rolling boulder.

Coolio, I'll edit the sprites. My only problem now is the animation with the new feet. It's doesn't look that hard, though.

Keep in mind that we can be flexible with this. For example, who says Spike has to walk at all? Most recent games show them standing in place, so as far as I can tell, you make a nice "spike ball spit up" animation and throwing, and we are good to go.

I'll be basing his animation from the NSMB Wii. How big is the ball of spike anyway?
