i know, right? you thought i was a spriter, bound to art forever, and unable to escape, right? (or something like that.)
well forget all of that, because i'm making a mario fangame!
i only have a few gifs that came out of the testing room.
1st

this gif shows mario's basic movement implemented. a little floaty, but it's there.
2nd

this gif shows that the floatiness is gone, but more importantly, variable jumping was put into it.
3rd

this shows nothing new, except WIP animations and a bug. :whoops:

I agree, it does look good and cool. It reminded me of SM 64 or Sunshine for some reason even though it's not 3D. Anyway, keep up the good work!!

Edit: Super Mario 64 not RPG lol

You really should fix the damn camera and physics already. Both are very important features in a 2D platformer, and pushing them back in favor of adding other pointless features isn't very smart.

they're the No.1 priority now.
also, bear in mind that my GML knowledge is extremely basic, so don't expect anything amazing.

I feel like we should be able to see a little more in front of Mario. Right now with the distance we can see in front of him, it'll be hard to see upcoming enemies.

You forgot to change the "Hbor" and "Vbor" the view position.
and that's why the view is way on the right.

i'll probably do an engine if i'm not motivated.
