While I do agree that the characters are hypersexified, There are no explicit boobs, butts or pingas shown here.

Last week a post was deleted because it was a picture of a girl with big boobs. Why is this game somehow tolerated when other examples aren't?

have you considered making the designs less human and more animal? as it is now there's not a lot of reason for there to be the humanoid aspects to both the shark and the shrimp, and in the shrimp's case you can't really tell what's going on.

He's not wrong though. Some parts of your work are almost considered as sexual content with the obvious fetish idea combined with erotic designs that might be quite disturbing for everyone. You have a shark character that features a quite exposed body and inappropriate clothing that's suited for a porno, the same can be said for the prawn character.

You really do need to step back away from your fetish, as you seem to over sexualise everything and attempt to incorporate your own fetish into nearly everything that you do.

Anyways, I've tried out a design that goes against to your current style.

Spoiler:

A shark idea as a humanoid with eating as it's gimmick is extremely difficult idea to make appealing design that doesn't come off as disturbing and oddly sexual. Here, I've still had the basic inspiration from sharks and eating. I've removed all humanoid features and went for a animalistic Kirby and Starfy design style, which makes it less disturbing and more cute and charming. I've tried going for distinct, simple character with it's oversized toothy smiling tooth to capture some charm.

I think what I've designed looks better and less disturbing than what you've created. Though, it's really your and everyone's opinion.

No. It's still a discussion about your game, therefore the discussion should belong here, not anoher thread. You may not want people to talk about that but you sometimes can't control everything.

You may think your design is cute and sexy but I'm pretty sure that most other people wouldn't think the same. And yeah, I know it's a preference but if you make a game simply based on your own preferences and ignore everything else then there's no chance of that game being anywhere near successful. Sometimes it's better to listen to others criticism rather than to ignore them. That's especially the case here.

But if you really don't care about what others think about your game and just want to have fun, then go on.

You can argue that this game isn't MFGG-appropriate all you like (even though this thread breaks absolutely no rules) but please don't tell them that their game has no chance of being successful. There are successful games on Steam that are similarly themed.

Besides that, I feel like the "vore isn't appropriate for MFGG debate" doesn't belong in a Development Showcase thread. Either comment and critique on what is showcased or do not post.

I personally find the boob and belly physics uncomfortable/awkward and think the character would look better without them. You can create a "cute and sexy" character design without rubbing our noses in it.

Except that's not what I said. I was simply saying that you can't make successful games by ignoring the suggestions.

Except that's not what people have been saying. People are saying that this game is not appropriate for MFGG, not vore in general.

It's the decision of the staff, more or less, that we're not going to do anything about Vorey's stuff. There isn't anything explicit here, and vore isn't necessarily sexual. If anything becomes explicitly sexual at any point, count on us reconsidering. So, let's get back to the game please.

I agree. The success of the game is completely irrelevant. It might be extremely successful, or maybe nobody will care. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be here. That's just being rude.

EDIT: Mors replied with some stuff. I'm not meaning to contradict Mors, I'm not invested in any kind of meta-argument about the topic, so if my statement isn't relevant to the argument sorry, just take it as a general statement then.

That is the least of her grammatical issues. She used to write competent English, but in the past year her capability to write coherently has greatly degenerated.

what was that about ignoring suggestions? all i say is psids design is too far off from what im going for and is missing the point of my character. i didnt say 'no my design is perfect how dare you try to make me change it'
disagree with one thing =/= ignoring suggestions. god help anyone on mfgg who disagrees with one suggestion
the only reluctant i have for changing her is redoing all the hard animation

im now trying to think of outfit assessorys to make her more interesting. her outfit is cute but booooiring
im thinking of giving her converse shoes and striped socks. maybe an open hoody but not sure how i could make it work with her armfins

spuerarthurbros i meaned to resply earlyer but im not so sure avoit the greek look. ive never been fond of thise cloths and i want to give her a modern outfitdesign. maybe the trident is out

Well, speaking avoit ignoring suggestions, you sure seem to have ignored the one avoit you trying to fix the way you type like. I don't want to be rude, but I can barely understand what you say because of this issue.

It's not just the outfit of the character that's unappealing, it's the general design and shape. There's a big round gut with a big round head and thin limbs. Her arms are slouched over, she has an overbite and her eyes are big and covered in eye-liner. The bright-red glossy hair looks tacked on, almost like a dollar store wig. Your design suffers from many of the same problems Soopa's old character had before he tweaked it. There's no overall shape to the character. It's just a series of body parts awkwardly tacked on to each other.

My recommendation is to look into how cartoon characters are constructed, like this. Find a single defining shape for the character and work off of that. Also, try Googling stuff like "Shark Girl" and see how other people approach this kind of character. I think you're working in a bit of a vacuum as this design is very similar to Rachel.

Ugh.

Haven't you read the suggestions for fixing its shape and anatomy, as well as giving her something more distinctive to make her not look like a copy-paste design of Rachel?

All I am going to say is that the ninja style run just does not look good especially due to her body type. I suggest that you lean closer to the old SMB3/SMW running animation, by that I mean the ones were their backs are pretty straight up.

As constructive as the criticism in this thread may or may not have been, I was hoping you as a group would understand something vital:

Regardless of how her work may make you feel, it is still her own. If she doesn't agree with your criticisms, or perhaps even if she does agree with them, she is not obligated to change her work to suit you. Does it suck when you see an artist unwilling to change their methods and ultimately fail to improve or grow as a result? It might, but please don't forget that you are not entitled to anything from a project of passion such as this. This is not a product that you have purchased, so there is really no reason to reply with an attitude such as the one displayed in Mr. Saltman's post above.

You don't have to like her work, but she doesn't have to make changes so that you do like it either.

I'm really not sure how this design could even be remotely considered a copy/paste design of Rachel the yoshi, she's not even the same color or even similar in shape. Unless I missed something in the Mario canon that states Yoshi are actually shark creatures with a round, bouncy gut... I would recommend you don't make rude statements like that to suggest that Sloshy is not putting any effort into her work.

In my opinion, the character design is alright but I really don't like that the animation exaggerates her bouncy gut and breasts. The speed she'd have to be going to produce this much jiggle in such parts of her body... Still I have to admit, despite how I feel about the exaggeration and focus you are putting on her gut and breasts, that there is some decent work here. For example: the run animation is decent, doesn't feel too stiff and I like the color choices on this character. I do think the shading needs to be improved as the coloring seems pretty flat, though.

The run animation looks like one of those runs people do when they're about to fall over but trying really hard not to. It's extremely front-heavy and lacks any balance compared to the more upright standing pose. That character is going to eat the dirt soon as she stops running.
