I finally made a suggestion box on the project's wiki. Since ideas are the first thing needed before sprites, this is something that I would really appreciate help on. :)

Oops, sorry, I broke the suggestion box link. But now it's fixed.

I am pleased to announce that not only has level and map tileset work started, but I have also published a Style Guide for graphics. I hope that this will aid everyone who wants to contribute.

I'm sorry for not doing much work lately. My personal life has been having some issues.

Also, I noticed that not very many people are enjoying this project. What do you think would improve it?

That's just because no one wants Hello Engine with Mario removed.

I still think people would be more interested if you either extended SuperTux, ReTux, or The Secret Chronicles of Dr. M; or made new graphics for PGE to use. These would all be more worthwhile efforts than removing the only reason anyone uses Hello Engine from Hello Engine.

People barely want Hello Engine as it already is

A little creative idiot.

This seems like something good for fans who want to avoid copyright, or just don't wanna use Mario!
I won't use it cause I'm a gangsta (*Insert San Andreas Music now*)

1. I don't have the programming skills to extend any of those games, and I definitely don't have the graphics skills. You could say that I could learn, but it's just not worth it for me to do either of those things.
2. PGE seems good, but not only is it not playable yet (though I understand the merits of volunteering early), but it seems like it isn't as easily-expandable as Hello Mario Engine is. Hello Tux Engine was supposed to put a new coat of paint on the engine for others who couldn't do so. In the same way, Hello Mario Engine and Game Maker have allowed me to finally feel in control of the Mario game. I'd never take money to program, I'm not pursuing a Computer Science degree, so I like the easiest, most accessible, and most-commented way of making a Mario game (the same goes for SuperTux and SMC's graphics). Unless you think that Wohlstand making it as easy as Game Maker is something that should be of concern to him (...in other words, that it's not just me), it doesn't seem as good an option.

You took a Mario engine, replaced Mario with a ripoff of Mario, and thus had created a ripoff of a ripoff. Couple that with the fact that the engine you chose isn't particularly good means that people aren't gonna be jumping with joy at the reveal of your project.

You should do what Onpon recommended and try doing something with the Supertux engine. Maybe you don't have a lot of programming skill yet, but you could after you play around the source for a while. Replacing the graphics in Hello engine sure as hell won't give you much programming experience.
