English/日本人

Oh no, Cloudland is in trouble! The evil King Cloud has stolen all of the Cloudland dreams, and now nobody can fall asleep! It's up to On-Yan, protector of Cloudland, to journey on a quest to stop King Cloud...

やばい!クモランドランドは大変です! すべてのクラウドランドの夢が悪の王クラウドを盗んでいました、 そして誰も眠り込むできない! オン-ヤん、クラウドランドの保護者は旅をして、悪の王クラウドを止めるために...

Red on black isn't my thing being colourblind, but it still looks really nice.

Gameplay I'm not sure about. Enemies just die from touching a mysterious floating block?

No, not all enemies. What is show in the .gif was mainly just the test room for enemy death and the actual platform engine place. Most enemies will either take 3-4 hits to destroy, or require you to think/puzzle your way to beat them.

Oh, and there is a way to change the color palette if you don't like looking at the color red all the time

Love the graphics. Can't say much about the gameplay yet, because it looks like you can just keep that floating block in front of you and kill things.

Also not much of a fan of throwing in Japanese for the sake of throwing in Japanese. If you're gonna use Japanese, you'd have to at least use it right, not with Google Translate... for example, you're not even using the right word for "Japanese" at the top (日本人 means Japanese people, not the language, which is 日本語). Or other things... Cloudland becomes "Kumalandland" and later "Cloudland." On-yan has a dash thing in the middle, which doesn't make sense.

Yeah...I was alerted that this made no sense by Masashi27, who actually didn't even translate that (someone else did but they quit before actually doing anything else). I put that in because I wanted to get across that this game would be available in two languages when it is finished.

The graphical style is pretty cool.

I would advise against using Japanese text in the game unless you have a team member that you're sure is committed enough to translating everything in the game. Even then, if you want the game to reach a significant non-Western audience, you'd need to have some knowledge of the best platforms for distributing games in Japanese. Multilingual support is worth the effort only if you really know what you're doing.

Yeah, the one translator on the team is pretty good and I think will get the job done on a very good level. Translating the game is extremely important because I'd like to get this game seen and enjoined on a global level.

I'd like to see more of the combat. The combat in the gif feels very un-punchy.

And it's not that I don't like red, it's that it doesn't contrast very well on black for my eyes due to being colourblind. Despite the red, I really like the graphic style of this game, looks lovely! Good to hear there's other colour modes.

I am glad this game uses ZXC for its controls. Good taste, I love it!

Will you be able to customize the controls?

Yes. HOWEVER, if I were to ever port this to anything else, then you wouldn't because I'm too lazy of a butt to get that working as well

It depends on the situation. If its on PC or Mac, then custom controls are almost mandatory just because of how many possible setups or preferences you could have. Something like android or Wii U, Xbox, etc only has so many possible button combos so honestly I think you could get by with one default setup in those cases.

Yeah I meant for all Computer release there will be custom control setups. If I ever port to a console, then I'm going to remove it just because of how many combinations there are and how it can be a real drag to play.

Meet dozier, the first "complex" enemy in the game
Dozier stands still, due to sleeping, and snores out handfuls of "Z"'s that can harm the player. Hitting Dozier with your magical stick won't hurt him though. What you have to do is bounce the "Z" back at Dozier to wake him up, and attack him, all done with the Stick.
Also that isn't a third leg so don't even mention it.

If not a third leg, then... What is it?

Alternate Palettes.

Now you don't have to play the game in red.

That color is significantly easier on the eyes.

We're going to not have to play in Virtual Boy vision? That might be a good thing. At least this other palette looks easier on the eyes. All black and red shades is not really my thing.
