Okay, I wanted to wait a little while longer before lifting the lid on this thing, but, well… I was kind of sort of at an artist portfolio event this evening, and for whatever reason, in addition to presenting my illustrations, I decided to put on a demonstration of my little pet project on a big screen to a packed auditorium.

“Can we buy it NOW?!” I was asked. So, um… daaaaaang, that’s a lot of pressure! I guess now I have no choice but to officially unveil whatever the heck this thing is.

PRESENTING:
“Psycutlery”

Embark on an adventure alongside your very own piece of floating, cyclopean silverware! Stick a spork in evil, and CONSUME all!

This is still only an engine test, not entirely indicative of the final game, etc. and all that fun stuff. This isn't an actual level design either, just a test area. All's a work in progress!

Created in Clickteam Fusion 2.5, this is my first genuine attempt at the whole "indie game" thing. Although, there are no doubt a couple of similarities to... an older project of mine. ;)

I’d write up more, but it’s getting late, so uh, enjoy and such! Feel free to ask questions.

Looks great, movement looks a bit squirrely though.

I can see the parts of the engine that came from both TSB2 and Psycho Waluigi working together there.

Also the animation on the character is really good. What are they supposed to be though? Just a humanoid thing?

Oh my gaaaawwdd!

This already looks amazing! I'm guessing the whole spork mechanic was inspired by the Psycho Iris, right?

I can't wait to see what becomes of this project.

OOOOOH YES!
So, this is Spork... It looks awesome!
But, I have a suggestion, I think it would be much better if you made that unicorn's trail more saturated and more rainbowy.

This is one of the greatest things I have ever seen be produced by you TD. How much do you plan to charge for it?

I see so much awesomeness in that concept. I love the idea of using hybrid cutlery as a game mechanic! There are some strong Psycho Waluigi influences here (and some TSB2 undertones, too), but I also see a lot of new ideas and mechanics. This'll be fun.

I'm pretty sure this resemblance is coincidental, but the playable character looks a wee bit like her.

I'm assuming this was made with the Psycho Waluigi engine, since I'm seeing some...uh, very similar gameplay mechanics. It looks great so far, keep up the good work!

This is amazing. I'd always had the feeling that you could have easily made an original title with Psycho Waluigi's ideas, and it looks like you indeed have.
Psychokinesis isn't something I've seen done well too often in games, and I do think you've found yourself something unique that works. I am definitely going to keep an eye on this one.

If only I weren't swamped with projects.

I'm currently calling her "Lillian," and I have no idea what she's supposed to be exactly, but "just a humanoid thing" sounds like a fair assessment! She wears some kinda frog costume, and her hair ornaments resemble frog eyes. She also wears glasses since I was getting waaaaay too much of an "uncanny valley" vibe without them. She also doesn't have a nose, and probably doesn't have any ears either.

By the way, the unicorn is named Darkles, and the spork is named... guess. ;)

LangtonSquid wrote:

Actually, it was inspired by Yoshi's tongue - seriously. However, as I refined it over time, it unintentionally came to resemble you-know-what. By the time I added the ability to grab and throw things with it, yeeeeeeeah, that's when I was all like, "yeah, this thing is totally Psycho Iris." Having one big eye certainly helped, though. ;P

Mors wrote:

I should note that Youtube kinda desaturated the video, and the video was at a decreased quality to begin with. But even still, I supposed I could try and see how it would look. =)

Corny wrote:

Right now, I'm not doing this for the money. If I do end up selling it, I'd have to research the market, get advice and so on.

TrinitroMan wrote:

Hahahahahahaha what bird girl game I wanted to sell? I don't recall anything of that sort. Are you perhaps thinking of that dragonfly/fairy character I made years ago? I thought of making a game with that character, but unfortunately wasn't able to think of any novel gameplay concepts to back it up.

VinnyVideo wrote:

Lately, I've been seeing characters that are even closer in resemblance than that Ocarina NPC. Every time, I'm like, "dang it all!" But at least Lillian has a frog motif and a lack of a nose, so there's that.

Actually, it's a completely new engine that happens to share many similarities with Psycho Waluigi. There are many more control options this time around - yes, including mouse control if you want it.~

No, I was talking about this:

But now I have noticed that this game wasn't made by you, so sorry for mixing things up. :whoops:

So, I'm assuming this game doesn't have mouse control either? PW would've benefitted from it.

Besides that, looks neat. I always felt that Psycho Waluigi had little business being a fangame, so an indie spiritual sequel seems only natural.

Awesome stuff. It clearly was a good decision for you to step into the indie market with all these unique and twisted ideas you've got.
Loving the charm this game has so far.

Cliax Codec is a combination of top-down and third-person shooter. The gameplay will blend platforming, puzzle and shmup elements together to create a unique gameplay experience. You will take control of four playable characters which rise against a team that seemingly wants to take over the world - but are their motives really that cliché, or are there deeper motives behind their actions?

This is great I love it! I only have good things to say about this.

I guess if I were to nitpick I'd say her fire breathing animation being so similar to her idle animation felt a bit off. I feel like it needs more oomph behind it, if that makes sense.

I believe I said in my previous post that this actually *DOES* have mouse control. I just didn't show it yet! ;)
There are different control modes. With keyboard + mouse, you can move the arrow around the screen freely. In the video, I was using an Xbox controller (analog controls are supported for aiming, by the way!), which changes the aiming system to resemble that out of Psycho Waluigi. There is also a keyboard only mode using the same system.

Yeah, I gotcha! That actually *is* the idle animation, given how the head has its own, separate animations. I'll definitely consider something if I make any more similar abilities - thank you for the critique! =)
