Is that an edit of your sprite for the Christmas Tree? This game's one is definitely smaller, but there are a number of striking resemblances.

Absolutely amazing work thus far. I've got my problems with the wall-jumping though, I don't like the way you have to push Mario against the wall, it feels weird and I can't execute the jump half of the time. It's probably just me though.

Also, if you fall into the pit during the "green pipe walljump section" thingy, uhh

Code:

action number 1
of  Step Event0
for object par_block:

Unable to find any instance for object index '74' name 'obj_player'
at gml_Object_par_block_Step_0
###########################################

Stuff happens.

Anyways, it's harder to praise something instead of complaining, but I have immense respect for your game. ; P

It's a very little bug, I fixed it right after releasing the last demo. I'll release a new one soon.

I just noticed you said that the game would be composed of just 9 long levels, and that got me wondering how
things are going to be set up?

For example, will there be a mapscreen, or will the player just progress from level to level?
Will there be a boss battle at the end of each level, or just a single boss at the end of the game?

There will be 8 main levels and a final level (similar to Bowser Road levels from Super Mario 64). Main levels will have 24 stars but the last level will have only one star. I'm not going to explain how to get other 9 stars, figure it out yourself. There won't be a mapscreen but there will be a hub world.
There will be 4 bosses, one of them will be the final boss and one of them will be really easy.

Why is this game so much space? Really? 31 MB for only the FIRST level? This is almost as much space as one of the Midas demos that came with like a whole world or something.

Space aside, this looks really good. I am disappointed that it only comes with SMB1 levels, I'm pretty sure everyone and their Grandma has already beaten that game. How about more than one game? If not, maybe extra levels designed by you?

I'm downloading it now, my Internet is really slow so it takes more than 10 minutes to download a 30 MB game.

Those stalagmites and stalactites seem a little graphically off, but everything else looks lovely. Although the power star lighting is coming from directly above, while everything else seems to have top-left as the lighting point.

There are a multitude of problems.

Mario feels really floaty, and he accelerates just a bit too slowly. Goomba stacks don't collide with blocks (only the bottom one does). Why does Mario slide so much when you land from running and duck?
There's no way to exit fullscreen outside of the main menu.

I absolutely dread the physics. Mario is too floaty, and moves too slowly in the air. I keep knocking into everything and it is really annoying. I keep sliding everywhere and Mario is way too uncontrollable.

I dunno, I find the physics to be quite fine, the only part that feels floaty is jumping on an enemy without holding down the jump button I feel should be less of a jump. I also encountered a bug where one of those Goomba with a hat walked right through a pipe, then when I killed it, there was another one in the exact same place.

I would like the physics to be a little more precise, but not too much. I wouldn't say they are broken as it is, though.

I knew something was wrong with physics but I didn't change them because nobody was complaining about them. But I'll fix all of these problems.

Some of the music are placeholders, some of them are not finished yet and only overworld music is finished. Because of that, some music are in MP3.

Who said it only comes with SMB1 levels?

I guess I should reshade them.

Anyways, thanks for some useful feedback :)

I assumed that it only came with SMB1 levels, because, you know, it's called Super Mario Flashback, and the first part of the level looked like SMB1.

How about use all placeholder music until the first demo comes out? So every time someone wants to test out the game, they don't have to wait so long to download it.

and you know im making a game also with Mit's artstyle so yeah there's that

I'm not going to remove music or make file size smaller until I finish all three Power Stars.

Ah. I suppose that makes more sense, even though it takes me over 10 minutes to download each test.

I reccomend using FMOD you can convert your music and/or sounds into .OGG files as once you do this it saves alot of memory :D
(it gave my game a performance boost ;) ) Link:http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=333705
