I tried out the demo on NCFC 2017, Mors, and I think it's pretty good! Here's a list of my thoughts on it: - The graphics look quite lovely. Each sprite (well, non-placeholder sprite, that is) looks very well-detailed and the animations are quite fluid; they're actually kinda fun to look at. My only graphical complaint is about some of the effects (such as the trail left behind when ground-pounding), as they appear to be always smooth and 1x, while all the other graphics are pixelated, making them sort of clash.
- I like the remix. It sounds pretty great, can't think of what else to say about it.
- I find stomping on the enemies to be a bit too difficult, so difficult that after I got beaten a few times, I decided to not bother stomping on them, which seems to end up making the game easier. I usually get hit instead of the enemies. One way to fix it might be to widen the enemies' hitboxes. It could also help if Mario's traction was better (especially on the air).
- Either Mario seems too fast when running or the Koopa shells appear to be too slow, as the player can actually run into them when running to their direction and get hit as a result, which doesn't seem really fair.
- When it comes to glitches, I once hit a Piranha Plant with a fireball and its coin ended up inside its pipe, being impossible to collect. I ground pounded a Goomba stack and I somehow took damage from the Goomba on the bottom. I'd like to point out that whenever I jump soon after landing with a ground pound, the trail appears for a bit, which I don't think is supposed to happen. One time, when I lost all of my health, the music was still playing, even when the level started, as another music track starts and therefore the music tracks overlap each other.
Overall, I think it's just great. I'm sure the final result will be fantastic, with its cool concept, especially if the problems I had listed got fixed.
