Mario Bros. DDX (name not final) is a revamped version of the Mario Bros. game we're all very well aware of, but with new elements that make it feel fresh and interesting. our current team consists of Yoshbert, Fireball3k, Goombaking123, VinnyVideo, GamePixel, and myself. Yoshbert is currently handling the engine with Game Maker Studio, and you can check out an early engine test here. we've got a lot of ideas set out right now, many of which have been documented in this handy dandy text file. however, we're currently trying to work out a basic engine for Mario and stage gimmicks first, since they've all got sprites done, making the workload easier. here's what the game might end up looking like later down the road-

this is just the beginning, and we don't mind having more crew members. if you'd like to help out, send me a PM and we'll work things out from there.

I named my game Super Mario Bros. DDX because there already was a "Super Mario Bros. DX"
So I found it interesting you pick DDX too ^-^

I've thought about it. it's not too far out of the question, though designing those kinds of levels are much more difficult because the screen loops like the original Mario Bros.

Remember the game Mario Bros. +? I liked that remake of Mario Bros. but it never got finished... Take a look at that one and see what you think. I like the combination of platforming and classic Mario Bros. stages. :)

both of these are correct. though it could also mean "melee" depending on your translation, but it's still cool either way.

the japanese text on the bottom reads "Mario Bros. DDX" when translated. it's there to drive the "over-the-top" nature of the logo home

I do remember that, and the game will take a few cues from that in a few ways (item boxes are an obvious one)
