Is that background final? I feel like it could be more detailed instead of solid gray

Nope, it's not the final BG. The final bg is made, it's just not in the engine yet, and even if it was, I'd have removed it due to it's spoiler nature. On that note, I should mention that the lovely BG was made by bEEtleCCF, so I wish I could show it.

Since the standard levels are finished as far as the overall layouts are concerned, I'm now going through them and updating bits.

Ah jeez, I can't contain my hype right now.

This is like the love letter to 2D Mario as Mario Odyssey is the love letter to 3D Mario with both of these games carrying many new ideas and references.

I am legit way more hyped for this than the mediocre Super Mario Odyssey. This game looks so fresh and innovative, and its environments are gorgeous! I can hardly believe it's an amateur game.

I'm working on the arena for the final boss (BG, tiles, ect), and I can't show anything from that I'm afraid. I can however show you another part of the level I showed earlier, which btw, is a gameshow which is run by a group of Snow Buns (little snow rabbit creatures based yuki usagis).

Of course you have to go through the legal stuff before you can get on the show.

Theres... theres a lot of legal stuff...

Oh, and before anyone asks, there are decorations on the walls, but they happen to be behind the text bubble.

Looks great!! I'm excited for this game. I remember when it was a simple community fangame project. Took awhile eh? Keep up the years long effort and time you've put into this! :)

Dang it, I just have to know this, will there be like an enemy catalog (like Super Princess Peach and Yoshi's Woolly World) and a sound/music test?

All of what's shown so far looks quite fantastic! I like that Snow Bun's dialogue with the long list of what they're not responsible for, I find it rather amusing. I'm sure it'll be quite exciting to finally be able to play the whole game once it's complete and out.

I'd personally like some sort of in game beastiary, but it's up in the air if it will happen. If it doesn't though, I would like to at least make an out of game one that comes with the game file or something, especially since theres so many original enemies in the game, it'd be neat to give them all official names and what not.

Okay, bit of a different update this time. So as I said before, the levels are basically finished aside from ones that need to be tweaked and post game levels. That said, theres still some BGs and characters that we need made, so I wanna ask, if theres anyone out there that is good with BGs, send me a PM if you'd like to help. BGs aren't my strong point, so if I can get help finishing them so I can focus more so on the other graphics, it'd really help.

On that note (pun unintended) we also need help with music if any composers are interested.

It's surreal to see that this game is getting very close to completion. Do you guys have a release date?

Yes, and every time this question is asked, it's moved one week back.

There you go, that should be good enough to take a vacation. Maybe hit the Bahamas? You guys deserve it after all the work you've put into this ;P

I mean, at least we have Odyssey to cool down the wait....because honestly I'm looking more forward to this than it.

Just a minor update, I'm currently going through all the levels and trying to fix up little issues I'm finding, making sure everything works, ect. It's taking a while, especially because I'm noticing that some of my earlier levels are... well, they aren't too good, so I'm tweaking/updating them some first.

You and you team must have come a long way from when you were making those earlier levels.

So a while back, I noticed people playing the demo had no idea that the characters had abilities. Well, I've added things in earlier levels to help them learn, however I'm well aware that some people are good missing things like that. So to help with the matter, I've added a new building in the shopping area of Toad Town called the "Smarty Toad House" where you can get little hints, and learn how to use abilities.

Image
The younger Toads will give you general tips, mainly explaining features and what not of the game, like practical uses of abilities, or what the color of the level icons mean

Image
Image
The Toads in this house will teach you to use your abilities, and any side uses of them, like Waluigi being able to increase his traction while thin.

The different colors of Toad siblings also have unique personalities from each other. This isn't vital to anything, it was just fun to write for them.
