Presenting my MGC entry...
Super Mario in The Great Cursor Caper
(or, you know, just The Great Cursor Caper)
Image
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?6g0s9cgcu9k2qn5

I made this topic mainly because I plan on later submitting an enhanced version to the mainsite and I want to know what to improve.

This was one of my favorites. I like the Sonic touches you put into it.

Great!

I can't think of much at the moment but it shouldn't be possible to jump over the signpost at the end... and then die because of it.

Replying to inform you: That was my intention.
Glad you guys enjoyed it.

Btw, I'll either fix that or add in a neat secret for doing so, Miles.

I really enjoyed this game. I would really like to see this concept expanded on.

Thanks, I'm not going to expand upon it much any time soon, but as said before, I plan to upload a fixed-up version to the mainsite. :)

EDIT: I'm really not sure what the final plan is, at this point. :whoops:

quoted from mgc topic:

Quote:
dustinvgm - IN MY OPINION, this game was just bad. The graphics make me wanna vomit, the audio is atrocious, and the background even shifts instead of sliding smoothly. The game itself is way too hard; Mario can barely get anywhere because he moves to slow, even if you're spriting. I even once got stalled by a block because I stopped, and Mario refused to continue moving horizontally for some bizzare reason. There's no polish at all, and it's extremely boring. In fact, the only thing I found that wasn't really indecent was the menu. Somehow, I had fun with it though (along with all the others, of course)

Final Plan: I'm just going to change the graphics and add some new levels.

Ok! Just a suggestion, in Bowser's Castle, you might want to remove some of the spikes near the end, because as other people have already said, they make that part EXTREMELY hard and frustrating. You might also want to look into putting a pause button in.

Spikes: Well, Nite has suggested (over AIM) that I just shrink the collision masks of said spikes. I might do that instead.

Pause Button: Will do!

Ok, shrinking the mask should fix the problem!

Oh yeah, I tried to fix the shifty-scrolling, but I'm not sure I can find a way.
If somebody could give me a solution, that would be awesome!

Actually, hate to say it, but it's been canned. Mainly due to lack of interest.
Sorry if you were looking forward to it. (which I doubt, but still.)

I was.

Mostly since I wandered what you'd do with players that jumped over the signpost, but still.

I actually asked him if I could use this idea to make a game based off of this (with updated graphics, more levels, etc.), but I haven't heard back yet.

I just heard back form dustinvgmaster, and he says that I can make a game using this concept, so this version is canceled, but I will be making my own version.

That was great!

I can't really think of much to improve, really. Maybe extend it a bit by adding some more levels before Bowser's Castle?

Well, i've decided that I am not going to pick up this project from DustinVGmaster and continue it. I'm sorry if anyone was looking forward to seeing this completed.
