There's not much in the way of creativity as far as content in the demo goes. The controls and physics have that typical fan game feel and the music and graphics are nothing we haven't seen before. The level design is passable, but it feels like a shell of a game; there's a ton of unused space. I understand this is an early build, but I think it's worth noting.
Here's a tip on how to give your levels a little more character: fill the empty voids with interesting elements. Basic, sure, but it's what pushes those fan game review scores from a 7 to an 8 and beyond. Toss in some foreground structures or some trees. If it's Bowser Jr.'s level, make it look like he's been there. Vary the ground texture by making some parts of the level metal beams and boxes. It's really important to keep things looking and sounding interesting in order to keep your audience immersed in the experience.
I'm not trying to boss you around or imply that what you have is awful. You've got a solid start and an intriguing concept with the level selection and I hope you have the drive to finish this thing. Don't overwork yourself and get bored (which I think is the downfall of many a programmer).
Oh, and I recommend a temp fix for the game-ending error message that pops up when Toadette dies. Try adding a line of code that resets the level upon death. Right now we have to terminate the application entirely and reboot it in order to progress.
What game-ending bug?
When you die, you just restart the level, I don't see any game ending bug.
Anyways, I'm gonna make the other levels more interesting. A sports level for Larry, A factory level for Iggy, You're gonna face Roy in a wresteling ring (I'm gonna use the Dedede arena from Kirby Super Star), A shopping mall level for Wendy, and some more that are gonna remain a secret until I finish the game.

I'm also gonna make a hidden "Special Zone", which you unlock after getting the secret exits in all the levels. (Yes, there is a secret exit in this demo, you'll have to find it yourself.
