There is a
Simple Machines mod that adds inline CSS features to that forum software. I think it would be neat to have this feature in MFGG3. This would allow more freedom with the contents of a post while not being nearly as dangerous as allowing members to embed HTML. Here's what would be added:
- [div] and [span] BBC with style="" and class="" attributes
- Support for tables.
- style="" and class="" as optional attributes for lists, images, and tables.
Here are some things people could do with inline CSS:
- Text shadows and outlines, as well as highlighted text
- Add border patterns to block elements
- Use gradient or image backgrounds in a post
- ... well, anything inline CSS can do, really.
There is some limited potential for abuse, though. CSS's positioning properties could be used to place blocks of text or images outside of the post body, and that could be annoying. Position rules ought to be filtered out of posts or at least restricted by forum guidelines.
