I prefer the first one myself, but my only complaint about the second is the font. It just feels a little bland.

Wow, 1-up! Great idea. The first one looks better imo. I like the compactness of the second, but the font is less good and the shroom doesn't have the white spots.

the second one wouldn't really be used for the button itself, assuming the button would be wide. it's more of a quick go-to icon for emotes and whatnot i'll attest the font is kinda bland but that was done on purpose, it's based off [url=https://www.mariowiki.com/File:SMAS-Art-SMB2-Mushroom1Up.png]the old SMB2 art of that game's 1-up mushroom[/url]

Sounds good, I can't fault its design personally, works on multiple levels.

I really like the edited version that Kritter made. It would likely need to be a bit smaller to work under the current system, though. As for Mit's original two concepts, I like the top one a lot better than the second one. The contrast on the first is much better, especially for people with red-green colorblindness.

the top one is meant for the actual button itself, the bottom one is meant for use as an emoticon which can be more easily identified at a glance/in less space

As said before, I'd be down for 1-ups. And yeah, top/Kritter's button is probably best.

I think the emote would look better w/ regular mushroom spots instead of "1up". Im p sure most people understand it's a 1up mushroom

I have to agree. Everyone here is going to know what the 1up emote is going to mean so the text isn't required. It kinda looks weird without spots.

Yeah imo it would make more sense to implement some easy features (i.e. the like button) before trying to come out with a whole new version of mfgg Because mfgg3 will likely take 3+ months to finish, while a like button would probably take an hour (database table to hold like info, a php function to add/remove rows from that table, and some ajax to call said function when the button is clicked)

If style is a concern, we have some awesome pixel artists that would probably be able to whip up a version for each skin if you asked them.
