Before you all instantly say no, let me talk. We should have the option for every user to have up to...say, 3 sets of custom emojis. We could implement an image system with an emoji base, so that once it sees it, it could detect what each emoji is! Furthermore, we can have custom emoji names, say stuff like :GranddadHappy: or :fast:, so we can type it out or share Shoji's in an download store like area... OR. We can have an different route for this, like we can swap out either custom emoji sets from the official set or separate should...so yeah.

Even if your idea is shot down, I was considering making my own set of emojis anyway. While they won't be hosted here, I'll upload them onto Imgur or something like that and place them in the posts as I see fit. In spite of their small size, though, I'm a bit concerned about whether or not they'll mesh into the posts properly, like the actual emojis.

So, what you're saying is that you rather have standard emojis than the ones this site currently has? Am I getting this right?

So to be clear, the point of this topic is about whether or not to replace emoji with our emoticon images? On the subject of the site's emoticons for MFGG3, Mit made a topic about that already I believe.

assuming the updates for emoji will use SVGs as planned, this will be very hard to do using standard images as replacements. SVGs are meant to be scalable without any loss of quality, so just replacing that with a PNG won't be pretty. unless of course the custom emoji being made is an SVG, in which case then it doesn't really matter.
