Just simply do not advertise the PPP in the same sentence as MFGG if your aim is to get new users to come in here who do have an interest in Mario fangames among other gamedev things if you truely are concerned with post quality (and I think that is setted by those who have the biggest voices so far setting the norms on what to expect from the community). While I do agree that I question their purpose if they arent using MFGG to make fangames or improve themselves as artists nor being social with other MFGGers, I don't think you can control how you would like those users to spend their time here. That's on them if they would bother to make serious replies and stuff instead of s-t and spamposting whatever humor they like to have. The only other obligation you have is aside from encouraging people to contribute to MFGG is that that you do deal with users who are being objectively bad people activity hurting other users' posting experiences which btw, isn't a spamposting problem.

Fangames have always been the core focus of MFGG. Then look what happened in 2010 despite all of this. You don't have to advertise something to make it popular. A similar thing happened with the forum games before. We've had several users who would only post in the forum games forum and nowhere else. It wasn't a big problem or anything, but it happened, which proves that simply not advertising PPP wouldn't prevent it from overshadowing fangaming aspect of the forums. We have to keep the site fangame focused to prevent it from losing its identity, as well as to increase the overall post quality. We should encourage people to make fangames or at least contribute the community. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this would be a problem at all in the current state of MFGG, but that still doesn't mean we should just let users do whatever they want.

This is the suggestions board where people can suggest features or ideas the board may or [i]may not[/i] need or want, you know, like scrolling text, chatboxes or a dedicated TV Section on the forums, and then we as a community can discuss them openly.

Yeah the rehashes of the "shitposting boards ruin the purpose of the community" argument are pretty hollow: ie, they're no longer backing up a policy that was never tried and applied to a particular situation - the former toxic environment of the boards and cliques. That policy has been tried - the strict fangaming focus - and it failed at its aims (a peaceful community). The result? Practically no community to speak of. Anyone can go on about the proliferation of social media as much as they like, it's not the whole story. Gradually increasing are the amount of people who find that social media exploits them and ruins their attention and time for meaningless spontaneous validation & blurring the lines between real friends and an audience. People increasingly wish for the old internet back with its community focus. If people are going to go somewhere, it shouldn't feel like a censorious environment where the community isn't even about any serious subject matter that requires that level of strict discussion policing. It's about fangames, ie, about fun, and the community environment should... allow fun? MFGG isn't a Nintendo department.

A PPP would be great. It would help Mario Fans and Games produce more active users who feel a desire to create more Games.

i'd like to propose an alternate solution, a Pointless Fan Game Post Palace. this would be a board for more risque discussion about fan games that doesn't have a place in other boards. i believe this would allow for a wider variety of fan game discussion, and dissolve some of the tension mario fan games menagerie moderators experience when reading an "alternative" thread about fan games.
