Why can't a user have 2 forum games running at the same time? It doesn't harm the Message Boards in any way. Besides, what if a forum game of his extremely popular, but the user still wants to create a new one? Shutting down an enjoyable and popular forum game just because a new one comes out is no fun.

Then again, why do you want to have 12 or so forum games running at the same time? Where's the fun in that?

Personally I feel they should implement a 0 forum game per user rule. Optimal board configuration. Delete all forum games!

I kinda see Forum Games as a quarantine board to keep that stuff out of the General Chat, myself. However, I still don't want to encourage that board to become bloated with even more pointless games.

Why do forum games suck? Lets hear some valid reasons.

a lot of them are just postcount +1 types of games, rather than dedicated games like mafia or mario madness. if there was a balance of both then i'm sure it wouldn't be as bad as it is. i also think the limit should still be around. otherwise we run the risk of flooding.

So what? We don't even look at post counts anymore so I hardly see the problem.

I'd be fine with getting rid of this rule as long as people don't go crazy making eight new forum games every day or something. I'm also open to scrapping the Forum Games board, especially if we brought back a PPP/CCC/Lounge.

"Forum Games suck". "PPP/CCC/Lounge sucks". It's like if you guys wanted the whole boards to be nothing but a fangame factory! Why can't there be any boards that don't take things seriously? It isn't bad to have some fun every now and then.

distasteful posts aside i that while holding a main focus on fangame development is important, we are a community and disallowing any fun and "shitposting" (which in this case is literally just forum games and not shitposting) have their place in the building of said community. we don't need to pretend we're still weeks after the split. i agree with syax in that the forum games themselves have very little substance. "x the y above/below you" threads i think barely qualify as games, and we should try to hold and revitalize some bigger games that keep interest going. it's just difficult because those usually require semi-constant maintenance. it's not a surprise why a lot of people dislike forum games. that being said, i still don't think all of these threads should be outlawed, just... done in moderation. for every "big" forum game we should have two, maybe 3 at most of the smaller games like describe the avatar above you. i also think that the PPP should replace forum games. a lot of these games will find a better home there and hopefully being in a different environment will help them reach more of a middle ground between the "big" games and the "small" games.
