It would be much less serious than the General Chat: Things would be much more trivial, but still not random. It would have topics like "I just ate ice cream" or "He says Mario is Waluigi". You know, things that don't have enough importance to be in that board, but still not nonsensical. Pretty much what Vinny said: "fun but totally unimportant" topics. Idk, I really think we should discuss what could go in there.

Then you'd be taking potential activity away from the community. Not all of us like things like Discord.

I don't know about you, but I'd take quality over shitposts anyday. Leave the random posts for Discord. We already have General Chat so I'm not sure if there even is a need for an even more lax chat. I think at that point instant messaging would be better.

What? Don't we already have an "Arts Board" for sprites? Anyway, the Hotel Delfino chat already has a "showcase-and-critique" channel so if you wanted to quickly post sprites without cluttering the Graphics and Audio forum just plop them in there.

What you're asking is for people to take their work off the boards and that's the wrong attitude altogether. Stop trying to spruik off-site chats because it's not an official part of this board and has even less place here than the PPP does.

i'm slowly growing fonder of the concept of a PPP but i'm still weary of the moderation of the PPP, which is the opposite problem a lot of people are having, ironically enough.

Honestly I feel like I'm in the twilight zone where everyone else [i][b]except[/b] [/i]me is bitter about the PPP. People keep worrying about it turning into shitposting or taking activity away from the General Chat but they're really non-issues. Yeah you'll get some crappy posts but if nobody wants them, they'll get pushed away down the page won't they? Forum games are a natural part of any off-topic board, so they'll have a place there along with general spammy threads but we're not here for post counts any more so who cares? If you don't like those kinds of things, stay away. As for taking activity from General Chat... what activity? There's not many people posting there as it is and every topic that's slightly silly ends up locked. But you won't find topics like The Life Event Thread or TV show discussions or any of that in the PPP because they have a place in General Chat same as always. This board is lacking any sense of fun though and it's been missing forever. I used to hate the PPP but I'm honestly all for seeing what affect it could have on this board if it did make a return. People worry about it turning into like it was in the old days but honestly almost every negative member from then has left or grown up or just moved on in life, this is a different place than it was and maybe that's a bad thing as far as a PPP/CCC/Lounge like forum is concerned, but I'd at least like to see if that's true.

i think the PPP and the GC should work in tandem. things will be allowed on both, but if you want ONLY full thought out discussion, you post in the GC. the interesting thing is that even then, the GC and the PPP together are somewhat redundant. the PPP fulfills the purpose of a GC just fine- the difference is that the PPP requires self control so threads asking genuine questions aren't derailed. the excuse of "its the ppp, there are no rules!!" should be phased out- but i don't think moderation is the answer. if anything, maybe some extremely general rules are in order (don't derail, don't call people out) to keep things from turning into utter chaos. i said it like three times in this thread but official chats don't work because different senses of humor are interpreted as spam rather than something the person doesnt like. if the offsite chats have been good for anything, its this, because this is a big, big deal. this unfortunately applies to some people in power on the site (not all obviously) and i worry its dictated some decisions in terms of who is put into power as well. there is too much of a notion that "i dont think this is funny, therefore it is spam" that will entirely ruin the point of the PPP as well as alienate certain users from posting, lest they worry about being used as an example of a "bad thread" by people they should be looking up to. i am more worried about this than a huge influx of shitposts and i would like to think it's justified.

Of course these are all theories and maybe none of that will happen, but that's the whole point of trials.
