As we know, on MFGG, there is a sprite section for ripped, edited, and custom sprites. I feel like a section for 3D models would work, especially for 3D games. Plus, it doesn't gotta be limited to just Mario (If the 3RD party character was in the same game as Mario).

That might be a good thing to add to the list of graphics submission types.

I feellike having it separete from the sprites would make it less complicated.

Yeah we would do that.

This is a good idea and a great way to keep up with the times. VGResource already has a whole site devoted to 3D models.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I would make it a subcategory of graphics. It's not important enough to be its own section.

I'm cool with the idea of expanding the site's focus to CGI models. It might even give me an excuse to create more of them for submission purposes.

By the way, would my fully rigged Paper Mario puppets fall under this kind of submission?

If it's a 3D model, probably.
I assume we'd only accept file formats that are free to open so unless your object can only be opened in Maya or something you should be good to go.

Hm, even my background models (especially if they are rigged) would probably work the best when they are opened in Maya. With that said, I don't think that puts me in a good position for submitting any of those.

Yeah, allow multiple file formats to be uploaded. It's annoying when you realize the model you downloaded is only available as a .obj. Then you have to do all the weight painting yourself..

I recently ripped some Mario Sunshine models. This would be useful as I continue to rip more.

Jfyi you can submit 3D models as the site currently is, too. We just don't have a dedicated section so they fall into the Misc. category.

10/10 way to fix!

Yeah, I think we should add this too. Maybe we could move some of the 3D models from the 'miscellaneous' section too, since they're not particularly easy to find there.

The only question is which game applications (for fangame projects) are able to handle said objects that have been "ripped" from 3D Mario games in general. That's what I'm trying to figure out, even though I'd mainly stick with 2D stuff for my projects. Great idea, though.

I think this would be really cool idea, but I feel like the 3D section (or 3D fangames in general) would never really catch on, because if you look on the site, there aren't many 3D fangames.

In MFGG's current state, 3-D fangames are few and far between. However, adding a dedicated section for 3-D models might help change that! If people have a place to submit resources for making 3-D games, it might help us build a solid library of 3-D models useful for making fangames, which might lead to MFGGers making more 3-D games.
