i'm going to quote these rules because there's a belief that they ban joking and lighthearted discussion

Be an intelligent, sensible contributor to MFGG. Some things to avoid:
"typin liek dis........ XDXDXD"; writing in barely understandable English or foreign languages, or consistently showing an inability to understand basic English.
Using terminology generally considered offensive to one's race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or other statuses that people have limited control over (such as racial epithets or gay slurs).
Frequently instigating arguments or disrupting the community in some other, negative way.
Bumping old topics without a valid reason.
Asking for help in some way (advice in the general chat, or criticism in the development/arts boards) and then showing a complete disregard for any help that is given.
nowhere in their description does it say "don't poopoo post, don't be ironic, don't joke, don't have fun"
specifically rule 4 deals with derailing threads and personal advertising, while rule 6 deals with posts that are unlikely to prompt healthy discussion because they promote negativity, confusion, frustration or similar feelings.
having a lighthearted thread to joke with other members of the community isn't against the rules. if for some reason it's supposed to be, the rules need to be updated.
i would personally recommend against that though. any thread that can actually prompt discussion is de facto healthy for a message board community.
