This is not a joke, I legit thing MFGG should have a streaming service like motobug from TSS.

Would anyone use it?

If you're suggesting that we develop our own streaming platform to compete with Twitch and YouTube, that's a little bit beyond the scope of the new mainsite software. Building a streaming platform requires a lot of coding - not to mention all the pricey servers required to support live high-definition video. So that's not going to happen. On the other hand, setting up an official MFGG account on Twitch could be fun. We could also take some steps to promote MFGGers who stream (including, but not limited to, yours truly).

But it's just some site for Mario fans to share their games, sprites, etc. :whoops: But I can see what it can be used for, like if somebody is developing a game. :D

isn't it possible for multiple streamers to be able to use one big channel, but all under unique accounts? similarly, we could have an "MFGGTV" page with a live chat and stock video playback when someone isn't streaming, but when someone is it shows up. i think vinesauce handled it like this some time ago, i dunno if it's still like this

An official MFGG Twitch account would be even deader than MFGG's Twitter page.

to be fair i think MFGG could use more active/varied staff in general to cover more ground. we've got a low amount of people covering a lot of different ground so it's basically stretching resources thin. a twitch page would likely be community driven and not just be fangame focused, since i think a decent amount of users here stream.

We're looking into promoting some new staff in the near future, especially for QC. Our current staff lineup is rather thin, and the ones we still have are increasingly busy with "real life" matters (or, in some cases, playing Breath of the Wild a lot). I'm not an expert on Twitch, but I know it would be possible to make an "MFGGTV" where different streamers could contribute. I think this could be a lot of fun. While there would obviously be a slant toward Mario fangames, being MFGG and all, there could be non-Mario fangames, indie games, and commercial releases as well - that's the way I've done it on my individual Twitch channel, and I think other MFGGers would enjoy a similar format.

I have a better idea. Why can't we just have a YouTube channel? I noticed that fangame videos on YouTube are getting quite popular so it would be neat to have an official YouTube channel that plays old and new fangames to showcase them. That would help MFGG and MFGG's fangames to become a bit more well known. We can also stream there too. I dunno this is probably a stupid idea

People could submit their game trailers and so on.

As long as it's not like Sonic's Youtube account, then I'm all for it.

i honestly think a streaming page would be a better idea. MFGG let's plays just seems like it wouldn't be as interesting as livestreams, and while an MFGG youtube page could serve its own purpose, i'd rather it not steal the spotlight from something as big as a streaming junction with live community feedback.

I think you're far more likely to get people to see your game and videos on Youtube than a randomly running streaming service. I don't think Lets Plays are that interesting though unless the game is really good (or really bad), and then you're far more likely to find that game being played on a more popular channel. Examples of what I'd rather see: - Short "fangame highlight" videos, around 3-5 or so minutes showing off gameplay, or perhaps a compilation of "this week in fangaming" which could also be featured on the main website - Videos to highlight "Game of the Month" or "Game of the Year" etc - Trailers that people have submitted for their own fangames But of course all this kind of requires someone to keep on top of it, MFGG would need to hire a video editor with the time to bother with this kind of thing, and in my experience it's hard enough to bother keeping up to date with MFGG as it is.

Sure, fangame showcase videos wouldn't be as exciting as livestreams, but keep in mind that our community is kinda small and only a small portion of it would be able to watch MFGG's livestreams. Videos in an MFGG YouTube channel can be watched by a much bigger audience, even bigger than our current community. We can also still stream on YouTube as I mentioned before.

But there is only one problem. We need video-production skills (but I think the community can pull it off)! I'll get to work on that immediately.
