That gives me plenty of time to work on NEW ENEMIES!

Exciting new enemies like

The Cobra!

Image
The Flamescale!

Image
The Viper!

My ability to create unique and interesting sprites is unparalleled. Every enemy is so unique.

Ooo a video.. that I can't see. Edit: It looks fun.

I'm looking for some feedback on my entry.

..It's just not fun right now. I'm thinking of just making a sandbox level then be done with it.

Controls:

WSD to move the snake.
Left Mouse Click + Drag to rotate the camera
ScrollWheel to zoom
Alpha1 : toggle always moving forward
Alpha2 : toggle cut segments are climbable
Alpha3 : toggle mouse click snake segment to cut it

I find that the easiest way to make something into a challenge is to add a time limit. Perhaps you can spawn pickups randomly through the sandbox, much like classic Snake, and give the player a giant arrow pointing to its location? Put some sort of time constraint on it. Decrease the value of the objective as time goes down and/or make it a "how long can you get in x time" deal and/or increase the gamespeed with each objective.

Some bridges/floating stairways might make the movement a bit more interesting.

Scaling Snake Cavern is done. I think. I haven't done my customary "play the finished executable for an hour to see if any bugs pop up" thing prior to uploading.

Yes, either late tonight/early tomorrow because timezones

Finally wrangled this thing into a playable state.

TOPDOWN SHOOTER
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sq1zpdbwtpgytqe/TOPDOWN%20SHOOTER.exe?dl=1

Significantly... altered (simplified) from original design. One room. Move with arrow keys, Z and X to shoot. Open menu with space, change guns with arrow keys.
Pistol - Pretty standard.
Shotgun - Proximity-based damage.
Minigun - Low damage, no reload.
Rifle - High damage, high reload.

Comes with my 100% script-free guarantee. I suspect I'm terribly inefficient.

I'm a dumb idiot who can't budget my time so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. Not a lot of features so its more of a tech demo than a full game:

Image

Image

Controls:
-Use the mouse to aim your snake!
-use left/right click to fire left, right or forward
-use space to activate a screen-clearing bomb
-Press F3 to toggle screen size/fullscreen
-Press ESCAPE to quit

Guide the Super S.N.A.K.E. across the map, collecting survivors and fighting tanks. Try to avoid damage and your own tail, because those will both kill you.

Just about everything is custom except for the stage theme.

Scaling Snake Cavern is a roguelike-turn-based-RPG about a witch and his/her serpentine companion (also of ambiguous gender) ascending through a giant cavern filled with snakes. Strong enemies reward magic points when you defeat them, but your healing stock is limited to the two pairs of potions you start out with. How far can you go?

Controls: This game is compatible with XINPUT controllers (i.e. Xbox controllers for the most part) and is best played with them, but can also be played with the keyboard.

Select: A Button / J Key
Cancel: X Button / K key
Switch Characters: Pause Button / Enter Key
Control Stick/WASD/Arrow Keys to navigate the menus.

I've personally produced all of the sprites but the background/tiles (which are a free-to-use background by Luis Zuno) and the potion icon in the wheel (done by a friend). It shows.

The music is Creative Commons music from Songs from an Unmade World by Visager. Fonts are all Creative Commons fonts, with attributions and links to them in a .txt file in the download.

The sound effects were created partially with SFXR and partially by me making noises into a microphone and modifying them with Audacity.

Gameplay is entirely original and most certainly does not closely resemble any Mario games, paper or otherwise, living or dead.

*Oh, and since there isn't really anything explaining it: the Focus command raises your ATK by 1 for the next attack. It can be used multiple times to significantly power up one's next attack.

Ok my dudes, I guess its time for the VOTING PHASE! Since there's less than 5 I suppose we just go to final votes. Here's a compilation of the entries:

TheShyGuy/DJ Coco - 3D isometric game with pixel art
bigpotato/Heraga - TOPDOWN SHOOTER
Syaxamaphone - Super S.N.A.K.E.
Magnemania - Scaling Snake Cavern

Voting concludes at the end of Friday, May 26th.

TheShyGuy, as I've looked at the screenshots. Sadly, I can't actually play the games for myself, because I'm stuck on a desert island using a Mac. But TheShyGuy's one does look the coolest.

You really shouldn't be voting just because of the screenshots.

I'll try my best to play each of these games and give my vote by the end of the week.

Huzzah!

How exactly does the picking-of-future themes function for Super Competitions?
