Post subject:  [FINISHED] Super Competition #1-2016

This Super Competition is now finished. It seems that Blutorus is the winner of this competition, so congratulations to him!

-------------

Three entries have been submitted to his competition, which are:

Blutorus - Annalynn
Dustinvgmaster & Vitiman - Toad and the Ancient Keys
Q-Nova & Cadet - Beat: the Game

February 25, 12:00 PM, Eastern Time is the time when the voting phase ends. Before that time passes by, be sure to try out each one of all of the entries, and vote for your favorite! ;)

-------------

The last time we had a Super Competition was eight months ago, which is quite a while, isn't it? Well, as the results of the MFGG Awards of 2015 have been revealed, I thought that we could celebrate this with a Super Competition! So, before I reveal the theme, does anyone here remember the time where plants were protecting a house from zombies? Or what about the time where a orange Yoshi was protecting six Yoshi eggs from those pesky Koopa Paratroopas, Fly Guys, and Boos? Well, as you might have guessed it already, the theme of this Super Competition is:

Defense

So, basically, your game should have someone protect a certain object, character, or area (it can be more than one object/character/area, if you are wondering) from any kind of danger. Like the other Super Competitions, this theme can be used quite lightly, just as long as there is protection involved somewhere in the game (it can even be as simple as having someone say "I'll protect my sweet potato disco ice crea-er, I mean my eggs!").

Rules:
  • Having a team of up to two members is allowed.
  • The game should use as many original resources as possible. For a minimum amount, it should use an original engine, at least two sprites with at least two frames of animation each, and at least one music track (remixes are allowed, by the way).
  • Both fangames and indie games are allowed.

So, the deadline for this competition is at February 22, at 12:00 PM, Eastern Time. That is about three weeks, fours days, one hour, and nine minutes away at the time this has started. So, have fun! I can't wait to see what you'll come up with! ;)

Oh man, can't wait to do something! Can you be a part of more than one group? If so, I'd be happy to do some music or graphics for somebody :D . Hopefully I can enter myself too, it'd be great practice. :)

I will definitely have to enter this! Thankfully I have an idea that I can use.

I'm working with one of the best game developers of MFGG to create the ultimate minigame.
That's not the only thing I'm currently working on for this game.

...yes.
I stopped using GM8 a while ago, but I decided to return to it just for this.
Because it's faster. Yeah.

If Mors is using GM8, then I'm using GM:S. It's just the natural order.

Since being part of a group would count the entry the group is working on as your entry, and you can't submit more than one entry (well, you actually can, but if you do that, only one of your entries will count for voting), I don't think you can really do that. Sorry about that.

Spoiler:

I actually have all the gameplay elements done. I just need to polish things up and I'll be good to go!

I never had a previous name. This is what I've been since my debut on MFGG!

Also, I have my game done, but I'm just going to wait until tomorrow to release it and torment you because I'm an Image

Oh really? I'm sorry, I've clearly been out of the loop.
What is that an icon of, it looks like a pot of soup. Also, how exactly will you game play? Just interested in what you'll be defending in your game.

Don't worry about it, man. I've only been here since 2014 so some oldbies may not remember me.

The soup icon you see right there is a badge called "assholw adminy." I really don't know the specifications to receive one myself, but I'm sure the name gives a hint.

I won't say much for the game itself, but think of it as a crossover between Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, with a dash of other various 80s arcade games.

Like I said, I'd upload this tomorrow (which is today). So get it right here, right now!

EDIT: I fixed a bug where the game would crash after you got a game over and there were no more gems left. Thanks to Dustinvgmaster for finding out about it.

Well, I cobbled something together for this. Behold...

TOAD AND THE ANCIENT KEYS

It's a sort of mini-Metroidvania thing. You play as an unamed toad as he attempts to circumvent a temple's defenses and obtain a precious treasure.

Anyway, I had finally managed to my finish my entry! The music was composed by Cadet, while I did the graphics and engine. Here is a link to my entry:

Beat: the Game

Hope you enjoy it! :)
