Post subject:  Super Competition II

It's been countless times since he's been in this scenario before. Bowser wakes up in a ditch with the remains of what once was an ominous Coney Island Disco Palace fortress that stood tall and powerful. It was devastating after the first time, but he grew accustomed to it. It was like coming home and expecting to have the same thing for dinner every night. Once again, he stood up, brushed the dirt off his knees and shoulders, looked to the murky sky, and shouted:

"Enjoy your victory once again, Mario and...er...Green Stache, but mark my words: I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!"

Yet, this time, he didn't know where to go from there. He would usually gather round his lost minions and start brainstorming for ideas to stop the Brothers once and for all...even though he hasn't been able to do that last part for the nth time. His mind was caught in a trap that he could not get out of.

That's where you come in.

Anyways, the theme of the next Super Competition is Revenge. It's to come up with a scenario with the antagonist coming up with a scheme with revenge against the hero he was plundered by once again (and possibly succeeding)! Again, since this is a special competition, this could be used lightly, as long as revenge is somewhere is in the game. (This can be as simple as a quote even, i.e. "I'll have my revenge!")

The Rules!
  • Teams of up to two members are permitted.
  • The game should use as many original resources as possible. At a bare minimum, it must use the following: an original engine, at least two sprites with at least two frames of animation each, and at least one music track.
  • Both fangames and indie games are acceptable.
  • Have fun and be creative!

The winner for this competition is blak! Congratulations to him.

Cool. If I had more game creating knowledge I would participate... maybe I can mooch off of somebody else for that badge by making graphics.

Heh, your right. I might do a Paper Mario: Sticker Star-like game with the style of a Earthbound battle, because I have a great idea for the stickers. >:)

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. I'll try to think of something else.

It took me ten minutes of pacing, but I have a great idea for this competition. I just hope I am more passionate about it than my idea for the last comp. XD

Well, I've got a (possibly) better idea. I'm not sure where revenge will go to, but I think my idea might work.

By the way, if anyone wants to make music for me, then please send me a PM! ;)

If it's not going to be 8-bit remixes of already composed songs, then no.

Would it be legal to have a minuscule track that barely appears but is still in the game? I'm bad at music. Also, do you have to make the sound effects as well?

As long as a custom music track is in the game, it's fine. You don't have to make custom sound effects, but they're welcome!

I think I will do this thing.

If you don't hear from me by the 25th, then I did not do this thing.

I've got some good progress very quickly, and here's how it's looking right now:

Ditto that.

You probably won't hear from me because I always say I'm going to do these but never do... But I'll try! :O

Vinny told me that I can participate even though I won the past competition, so yeah, I'm available in case anyone needs a good musician. PM me.

You know, the fact that we need to make original compositions is pretty dumb. It should be optional but recommended at the least. Does everybody know how to make them? Obviously not. I don't know many people who can or has. It's not like graphics where you put a bunch of squares together to make somebody, it actually requires complicated programs and knowledge.

Besides, if I knew how to compose music I probably wouldn't waste all of my time and knowledge on a cruddy little mini-game like this. I would do it in something more interesting like my RPG (Shameless self advertising.)

So does spriting and programming. This is a jack-of-ALL trades comp, so it's kind of... absolutely necessary that music is in there.

For spriting you need, what, paint.net and the knowledge of putting pixels together. There are some techniques you can do with it to make it fancier and have a lot more frames, but it's not that difficult really. Programming is required and I don't see why people would be bothering about it being custom.

Music? First off you probably need to know how to play an instrument or two (I don't mean know how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I mean like almost master it,) find a program that lets you make music, LEARN how to use that program, but it's probably a lot more complicated than I think.

Composing music is pretty simple for me, but that's probably because I'm a professional guitarist and pianist.
