Welcome to EXTREME HANGMAN: Electric Boogaloo! This is the second edition of the game, which brings a bit of change to the first edition that was run last year.
Some stupid thing pretending to be a plot
Some megalomaniacal freakshow who has dubbed himself "The Executioner" believes it's a jolly good idea to hang every last MFGGer, one by one. For whatever reason, he's decided to make the whole ordeal a game out of some strange sense of fairness and sportsmanship.
Law enforcement is nowhere to be found.
Geez, CC, that plot really is terr--OH CRAP WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO
Hangman is a word puzzle game. Players guess one letter each at a time to fill in blanked letters in a word or phrase. The executioner will accept as many letters as there are players offering them before the game updates, but an incorrect letter will result in one of the victim's stick figure parts being filled in and being one step closer to death. If you're feeling confident, you can guess the entire phrase, ending the current round and starting a new one. Player guesses after an incorrect guess will be ignored whenever I update, giving you a chance to reconsider your guesses given the knowledge that one of those 26 letters in the alphabet isn't being used.
Now with all that said, EXTREME HANGMAN has a few twists! For one thing, The Executioner has stolen your vowels (fortunately for you, not including the letter Y). On the bright side, you've got a few SUPERPOWERS you can buy to help you out!
Y'see, as a reward for playing the game, you will get money (which you share as a group) and points (which you keep for yourself). Money is used for superpowers, while points determines the "winner" at the end when someone inevitably gets hanged. Beware, as superpower prices will steadily rise.
* Buy a Vowel: Get back one of those precious vowels (a, e, i, o, u) so you can guess it! You're still penalized for bad guesses, though. (Starts at $3, +$1 each purchase) * Gimme: Named after a short golf putt that doesn't take in informal play, this fills in a random correct letter. Results may vary. (Starts at $3, +$1 each purchase) * Safe Guess: Make a guess without worrying about the consequences for being wrong. (Starts at $3, +$1 each purchase) * Panic: Disrupts the current hanging, generating a new phrase with about half your letter guesses and mistakes erased. Bribes are expensive, so use them wisely. (Starts at $10, +$5 each purchase)
There are a number of things you can do to earn money and points, as provided below:
Spoiler:
Things which affect money and score: * Correct letter guess: $1 and 1pt per space filled * Correct phrase guess: $2 and 2pts per space filled * Letters revealed with superpowers will not grant money or points.
Things which only affect your money: * Round completion bonus: $1 times the rounds completed times the number of chances left * Bonus round completion bonus: $25 in addition to the above
Penalties for doing it wrong: * Incorrect guesses: -2pts * Caused the death of an MFGGer: -10pts
The endgame also awards 10 points to the most active player, the most accurate player, and the most thrifty player who spent the least on superpowers. You must have made a minimum of 10 recorded guesses to receive any of these awards.
Eventually, someone will be hanged on the gallows, and the game shall end. The "winner", so to speak, is the one person who's managed to tally. When that happens, the game is considered to be "finished", and the player with the most points is the winner. But before we begin, let me make some final notes/reminders/whatever:
Quote:
1. One letter per person per update, PLEASE. Any action you take other than the first between updates will be ignored. 2. Remember: you have to buy vowels! For your own good, I'm going to ignore any mention of vowels that doesn't involve buying them. 3. Unlike first edition, you CAN participate if you are on the gallows. Somehow. 4. We use 'MURICAN spelling, here. No colours for you, bub. It's "colors". 5. Don't be a jerk and play the game as it is meant to be played.
So now that's out of the way, excuse me while I get in character.
*ahem*
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN... OH, WHO AM I KIDDING? YOU'RE ALL A BUNCH OF PATHETIC NERDS; YOU DON'T HAVE ANY GIRLFRIENDS! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! YOUR MISERABLE LIVES ALMOST DEFEAT THE POINT OF HANGING YOU ALL!
NONETHELESS, TRY TO SAVE YOUR CRETINOUS FRIENDS FROM THE SWEET RELEASE OF DEATH--IF YOU CAN!
LET'S SEE... WHO SHALL I START WITH? WHY, THAT MILES SEEMS SLIGHTLY LESS PATHETIC THAN THE REST OF YOU... IT SURE WOULD BE A MONUMENTAL SHAME IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN TO HIM!
Players (score, accuracy, money spent): * Poor Miles is gonna die alone.
