Paper Mario Pro Mode is a hack focusing on the game's combat. Most of the encounters are remixed, all the boss battles have new gimmicks (such as modified attacks, additional enemies, stat modifications, elemental/status immunities, etc), enemies from later chapters can appear in earlier battles...Quite a good deal of changes.

Enemy damage is doubled (as an old mod of the game behaved), but the defense from Guarding is similarly doubled.

There are also boss refights, enemy gauntlets, little bits of optional content.

I am of the mind that this is the best thing to come out of Paper Mario since The Thousand Year Door.

Interesting. Does it have the same storyline? Or is it new?

This sounds interesting. Paper Mario is one of the easier RPGs out there, and it's pretty hard to lose a battle if you know what you're doing (unless you're doing a low-level run or something like that). I like the idea of a "Hard Mode" for advanced players.

Somewhat unchanged. Some of the characters have extra dialogue where they refer to their enhanced abilities, but beyond that, the cutscenes are identical.

You know what's even better than this hack? The fact that there are now tools for creating equally ambitious Paper Mario hacks!

Cool though I never beat Paper Mario. I could try this out.
