And before you say it, Desert Bus doesn't count. That was on purpose.

I got the idea for this thread from Joel from Vinesauce. As a joke, he played a fishing game because that type of game is inherently boring, but he LOVED it!

So what games DO you think are boring?

Or what moments from games?

If we're talking boring games in general, DOOM 3. This game is so slow and lost its scare factor over the years. The most fun I've had playing the BFG edition is when I played Doom 1 and 2 on it.

Using the Last Man Standing mod with Doom 3 is fun though when you do it co-op.

Yeah, IIRC the original Doom 3 wouldn't allow you to use a flashlight together with a gun. It was a cheap scare tactic, since something like 80% of the game took place in pitch-black corridors. When the BFG edition removed this restriction, the game got pretty boring. Doom 1 & 2 have definitely aged much better.

I bought this clearance for $4 recently because it came with two amiibos included in the box. Even then it wasn't worth the price of admission. The worst part was my son actually liked it and forced me to play it TWICE.

I didn't play Amiibo Festival but I played ND Cube's other fantastic works like Mario Party 9 and 10.

Nintendo should probably fire ND Cube.

You will take control of four playable characters which rise against a team that seemingly wants to take over the world - but are their motives really that cliché, or are there deeper motives behind their actions?

I dunno if they can "fire" ND Cube so much as dissolve them since they're a subsidiary of Nintendo, but yeesh, their track record isn't exactly glowing at all. They average in the 60s for Metacritic performance.

A bold answer!

Minecraft can be boring, especially if you're older than 12 trying to play it in this day and age. I was never interested in it myself either really, though I did see how it had a lot of potential after giving it a shot.

I just feel like games are better when they give you a true objective to accomplish.

Minecraft is the kind of game where you really need to set your own objective, such as "Build a farmhouse", that was my last build. It's also way more fun with friends.

I'm still angry on the fact that Notch wasted his time with his bull**** holidays over working on Minecraft and ended up selling Mojang. His incompetence made Minecarft a game: wasted potential with RPG features tacked on for no reason that doesn't even fit the game at all.

Metroid Prime Federation Force.. picked it up and never got around to playing it more than a few times... I really was disappointed. What was with the mechanics? Straightforward to the max and no freedom. God do I hate it... I'll probably pick it up again though. It is metroid afterall

Here's an unpopular choice: Donkey Kong 64. Sorry, but this game fails at being a successor to DK Country AND to Banjo-Kazooie. It doesn't have any real semblance of being a platformer and it has an absolute crapton of collectibles split up between five characters, turning the collect-a-thon dial up from "enjoyable search" to "preposterous bulls**t checklist hunting". Plus it lacks much of the soul of previous Rare games, especially without music done by any of the DKC composers and the less interesting variety of enemies/characters compared to Banjo games.

All in all, it's basically just the worst of Banjo Kazooie amplified fivefold without the charm of BK or character of DKC.

It's too bad it ended up this way, with the absolutely unreal hype surrounding it back in the day.

Idk if it's that unpopular, that game's reputation has really soured over the years. I still like it though.

I never had BK as a kid, but I did have DK64, and I loved it a lot. It was a lot bigger and longer than SM64, and so to this day it still feels to me similarly as magical as it did back then, where SM64 doesn't, at least not in the same way. Between the fact that all the levels are just 3D models floating in space with what looks like an 8x8 pixel skybox lmfao, and the fact that the game has just been absolutely ravaged by speedrunners, there's just no mystery or anything. DK64 is huge and has a lot to do. It takes time to get to all of the levels (of which there's a good bit considering their size), whereas in SM64 you can reach almost any level just by getting 30 (ok 31) of the 120 stars and beating the first two bowsers.

DK64 is quite hard to go back and play as an adult, but as a kid that game was my life. I loved the fact that it has so many collectibles and things to explore and do. As a kid when time was seemingly endless, I really enjoyed just being in that world and exploring and collecting everything I could.

I also never had SM64. I did have Banjo Tooie though and similarly enjoyed it, but for me, DK64 was always my favourite.

Euro Truck Simulator. Proudly billed as 'the very first truck simulation game set in Europe', it's simply unfathomable to us why no-one had made this game before now. Euro Truck Simulator is, quite frankly is a thrill-a-minute game of intrigue and adventure, picking up cargo, driving within the speed limit, checking your mirrors regularly, and - if you're really lucky and progress far enough to transport hazardous material - performing a full cab inspection.
