Nintendo and US retailers learned nothing from the NES Classic or Switch pre-orders. 1AM-4AM EST was an incredibly crappy time to start pre-orders.

I've got mine preordered when it first became available thankfully. I'll either do two things with it, keep it and mod it to add more games. Or if they somehow made it unmoddable and I don't end up playing it much, I'll sell it and make some super duper moneys.

I'm really hoping that it ends up moddable. There are some omissions I find baffling (no Chrono Trigger? WTF?).

Chrono Trigger must've been that cartridge that fell out the box and did not get in the machine.
