So, my mom doesn't know anything about consoles, and she says she'd find it depressing to "collect coins and stomp goombas just because she'd have nothing better to do". My dad kinda likes them, and he told me that he actually has an old Atari 2600 hidden somewhere in our dusty shed, but he doesn't listen to me when I request him to take it out for some reason. What about yours?

She doesn't complain when I play them anyway.

Dad plays racing games on Xbone and PS4. Mom absolutely hates vidya.

My mom used to be a boss at Mario. She had the SMB3 strategy guide, my parents used to play Super Mario Kart very competitively, and she tells this legendary (to me) story about how she beat SMB1 without dying on a dare. My dad has had every PlayStation, and he still buys and plays new games.

My dad plays JRPGs. I can buy him the cringiest anime trash but if its an RPG he'll put hours into it. He played through Tales of Symphonia like, 10 times in a row to get all of the titles. That's dedication!

My mom has a small history of playing old Atari consoles and the NES, so does my dad. But he hated Mario as a kid since he wasn't very good at it. He's still pretty bad at it.

That said, they don't and never have played games.

My family has always played games to a degree. My mum used to love playing pinball games and point and click adventures like Myst or Neverhood but would also play games with me when I was younger. She even started a save file on Ocarina of Time once but never finished it. She enjoyed the Wii too but never played it much. She also used to play card games, trivia and other things like that. Pretty sure she still plays the odd game here and there. My dad maybe played a few billiards games but never had much interest in it. My grandparents used to have an Atari 2600, though but I never saw them play it. My wife's parents were into games as well, her dad used to play FPS games like Doom or Duke3D back in the day but he finds modern FPS games a bit stupid and hates when you can't use cheats. Her mum is also super addicted to World of Warcraft. We introduced her to it in 2004 or so and I don't think her subscription has lapsed even once, but she used to play PS2 and PS1 games too so she's always been a bit of a gamer.

My mother was addicted to Candy Crush for a little while. Nowadays, as far as I know anyway, she mostly just plays Words With Friends, but she's quite fond of it and plays with my grandmother. She tried getting into Dance Dance Revolution for a little while and played Just Dance with my niece once, but her shoulder injuries kinda kept her from getting too into them. My father would usually buy the cool new gadget but never really play it. It started with the Virtual Boy, then that NES-style Advance SP and a copy of Metroid, but I don't think he ever got very far in that game (probably because I kinda took it). Then he had a PSP with Wipeout Pure and World Poker (which... I also ended up getting) and he [i]bought[/i] a 3DS, but I don't recall him really playing it that much other than Pilotwings. For games I know he's actually played, I think he played maybe ten minutes of Ocarina of Time when we bought a Nintendo 64. I don't think he buys gaming gadgets anymore now that the kids have left, and I think having kids around is the only reason he ever bought them. Same thing with Yu-Gi-Oh!, he had some cards when me and my brother were into it, then sold them after we were over it. He was nice enough to play a few games though, which honestly, is one of the coolest things ever. Oh! He did get a couple Midway and Williams arcade collections for the PlayStation, which I also remember him enjoying quite a bit. He was more into older games.

My mom would often play Mario Kart and Tetris Attack with me. She wasn't a video gaming virtuoso, but she was good enough to win some games. More recently, I've gotten her into Pokemon Go. She was a little confused by this Pokemon Go thing at first, but now she has a higher level and a fuller Pokedex than the guy who wrote a guide for that game.

My dad had a BBC Micro computer when he was young, which he made games for and played others - this was when you had to type in all the code to a game to play it, and then save it onto a floppy disk! He also got a SNES and an N64 back in the day, both of which we still have. Sadly he doesn't have much time nowadays to play games.

They would play every once in a while, with my dad more than my mom. In fact, I'm the only person in my family who hasn't reached the final area in Pikmin 3
