Post subject:  SONIC MANIA


SOOO this was announced. Hoooooly, it looks incredible! It's pretty much my dream Sonic: seems to take a lot from Chaotix and CD in the aesthetics and feel, which I felt were a natural evolution from Classic Sonic. It's just sooo gooood hhhnnnnggghhh

Anyways, discuss how amazing this

Sort of looks like they are going with a time travel idea, but like, in a different sense than in Generations, like, heres a town, but now it's the future and it's all messed up since you weren't in the present (past) to save it. Seems interesting.

I just hope i get money to buy a PS4 and then get the game.

I am so excited for both of these.

I kinda had the idea that the plot of "Generations 2" was that it takes place in a timeline where Eggman won. For some reason, the three Sonics are dragged from their timeline into it. But I'd also be really cool with Chaoxys' thing.

I am 100% satisfied with these things. I didn't expect that either of those things were even things that realistically could have been hoped for, but there they very are, very real, very right there.

I hope in Sonic Mania you get the option as Sonic to have a Tails following you around and, much like in Taxman and Stealth's (highly superior) version of Sonic 2, being able to airlift you by your own will. Would suck to not have at least the following, but eh, I'm just happy about there being an official new SteathTax And Friends Sonic game.

After looking at Sonic Mania, I now feel like Sega is still competing against Nintendo more than ever. Sure, I still imagine that the companies still hold mutual respect for each other; however, paraphrasing an old ad, Sega is trying to do what "Nintendon't." They already encouraged the use of mods and fans created the official ports of a few of their games, but this is just the icing on the cake (the fluid sprite animations really sold me)! I really hope Sega is doing this as a wakeup call to their formal rival. Besides, it's outright embarrassing that Sega is making a lot more smarter decisions (the Wii U adaption of Sonic Boom aside) than Nintendo when the former doesn't even have their own console anymore.

On topic the music sounds really great. I'm glad they resorted to actual songs rather than sticking to what they thought were retro instruments in sonic 4

Are we living in the 90's? I mean, we got like that Mini Nes Classic, Sonic Mania, Pokemon Go being the dream of all kids growing up in the 90's, Yooka-Laylee and other N64 Kickstarters stuff. I guess it's cool and hip to be old and outdated.

Not complaining though, as I love this new game to death so far

The music is one of the best parts. I was fully prepared to experience "hey we're doing Genesis-style music, but poorly!" like we got with Sonic 4 or the Classic Sonic stages in Sonic Generations, but I was blown away by what I heard instead. Great stuff, legitimately excited.

Chris Whitehead? He's the guy behind the mobile ports... And fangames if I remember correctly.

This looks like a fangame, I'm surprised Sega is fully involved with this. :P

I am so in. For both games. We've been telling them for at least idk - 10 years - to go back to what made Sonic great.... And it seems they FINALLY listened.

Omg I hope they don't screw this up.

never would i have thought that the game i'm most excited for would be a sonic game... man, sonic mania looks incredible!
