Fun Fact: On the phpBB forums, there is almost exactly zero correlation between post length for a topic's first post and the number of replies in the topic. This applies even if you include just General Chat and Gaming. (Basically, short posts and long posts attract the same amount of interest, all things being equal.)

It's up to you to decide whether this fact is actually fun.

I think this really just depends on the platform used. If it's in a message boards like this, the length of the post is independent of interest gauged. Whereas in social media (such as Twitter), shorter posts tend to make a bigger impact.

I thought this was quite fun since I like my tweets going viral whenever I tweet out something funny.

I agree. When it comes to Facebook posts, the general consensus is that very short posts work better (one source). Tweets seem to be more successful when they're around 100 characters. (This advice assumes that you're writing in English, of course.)

MFGG (and forums in general) tend to attract a very different audience compared to the most popular social networks, and people are probably more willing to read a long post if it interests them. The way I calculated MFGG's stats is a little rough, since the SQL data includes BBCode and URLs, but I still thought it was interesting.

Correct, also, they can work even better if they demand a simple answer that anyone can give. Such as "comment your age", or an easy choice between two trivial things (I got over 300 likes and loads of comments with a simple question like "gun or sword?", for example). Those posts however, get a little old after time happens... so people are trying to be more creative in their questions, implying making a comment has a special meaning, etc.

Also, the like/comment count matters. The ranking of your posts would be improved, so you will, in fact, reach a bigger audience.
