However, I'm pretty sure they could've developed a business model that didn't break a lot of nonprofit forums and blogs - including some art topics on MFGG.

Are there any disadvantages to Imgur?

Part of the problem is relying too heavily on one service for all your image hosting needs, imo, so when they do pull stuff like this you lose everything. But imgur does work well for now.
