I need some help. My computer has just recently stopped loading sound for a reason I am not sure of. I checked on the Windows site but it was of no help. I am running on a AMD Quad-Core Laptop, with Radeon Dual graphics, energy star efficiency and Windows 7. Please help. It's not to do with the sound mixer; I already checked, and my volume isn't muted.
EDIT: I also just tried reinstalling my drivers, which didn't help.
By any chance do you have something plugged in to the headphone jack?
Anything plugged in to the headphone jack will trigger a speaker override, thus, no sound will come from the speakers.
You noted that you tried to reinstall your audio drivers, by any chance are they disabled for some odd reason?
you can check by going to:
"Start/Control panel/Hardware and sound/Device manager/sound, video and game controllers"
If anything has a yellow exclamation mark by it, or a red X, something is wrong.
try removing the driver, THEN reinstalling it if this is the case.
you might also check "Start/Control panel/Hardware and sound/manage audio devices" while you are at it.
your audio devices being disabled or muted in this area may not show up in the standard volume controls.
(This causes me all kinds of trouble when messing with my guitar)
their is a chance that a virus/spyware/malware could be doing this to you,
I advise doing a scan ASAP.
If you need an antivirus, AVAST is a good free antivirus.
Spybot search and destroy is great for spyware.
let me know if any of this helps, or you need further assistance.
