While I liked the basic structure of yours it really doesn't fit the overall style so I don't think it would be the great idea to use it.

If you don't mind I can actually help more with the HTML and CSS side of the things, as that would speed up the development even more.

Also weird request but can I get a copy of the main site database too? This is very boring to test with an empty database lol

Wow I totally forgot to shout out Mors for writing the really good buttons CSS, that was him

Also I'll see what I can do about getting at least some of the content from the main site backed up in SQL and content files.

Oh also if you aren't already doing this, you should start from a base theme that is responsive

It's way easier to shell out a few bucks for one instead of doing it yourself, since the base mybb theme is table-based and bad

But those buttons don't fit with the rest of the site, they're rounded and the border is really thick.

MFGG3 isn't using MyBB, but the proposed MyBB transition forum has a responsive theme I believe

I'm not a designer so I'll miss these things. We can do something about that

I Think MFGG3 should be called MFGG4 because of the MFGG2 Transition to MyBB

Yeah why not just call it MFGG4?

MFGG++
MFGG Awesome
MFGG Groovy
MFGG-TLAU (The Long-Awaited Update)
Make MFGG Great Again

MFGG4 is all right, but if DJ Yoshiman were around, he'd be able to explain to you why it's technically inaccurate.

Really this is probably MFGG5 or 6 by this point, if you count moving from TD's original crappy MFGG "everything on one page" design, to things being split into categories and the site redesigned, then things moving to a PHP design, MFGG moving from Ezboard to Vbulletin/Invisionboard/Phpbb/MyBB and so on.

If it's going to be open source we might want to give it a more generic name like TalonCrossing SMS has. I'm sure HylianDev remembers it being used for ZFGN as well.

Here's some simple ideas:

- Fan Games Gallery
- Fan Works Gallery
- Super Website Manager
- FanBook (like Facebook??? idk)

I'm not the best with names either but I'm sure all our brains working together can figure it out. Numbers are bad cuz MFGG has had so many softwares for forums and other stuff that only a few people are truly sure what the real numbers are and the memberbase just doesn't care.

On that note, Zelda Fan Game Central is working on some new software as well for their site and forums, might be worth connecting with them and collaborating.

I get your complaints about text on patterned backgrounds. Though as for the colours, that's up to personal taste I suppose. I personally wanted a brighter colour scheme than the usual darker blues that we've had recently.

Bright or dark color scheme doesn't matter to me (though I'd probably use a dark color scheme option if there is one), it's the contrast, especially between text and backgrounds. it's a lot bigger than just me and there are a good amount of tools out there for measuring if there's sensible choices being made here.

Some text I deliberately put on bright backgrounds with bright colours because they're not as important and I prefer my eyes being drawn to other blocks of text.

Text contrast shouldn't be used to draw eyes away from content. Color choices, white space, or just not having the content there if you don't want people looking at it are better options and don't bother anyone who wants to read what's on the page.

I disagree with that. For example, having the date on an update is far less important than the update itself. You still need to know when the update was, so rather than removing it entirely, I have it less bright than the content of the update itself. It's readable if you need or want to know it, but it doesn't stand out or detract from more important text.

Name idea: lumaSMS

About naming the software, this was just mentioned on Discord.

LumaSMS seems like the most likely candidate for software name at this point. As for MFGG iteration name, not sure yet.

I don't think the MFGG iteration name really matters. Just call it "New MFGG" at least it fits with Nintendo's terrible naming scheme of the NSMB series.

lumaSMS is a nice name. I like.

If you want to get technical, I think this would be MFGG 6, but yeah, iteration numbers are confusing and not super-important.

I think a change in brand name like "NEW MFGG" or "MFGG XL" (tho I reckon that one's a joke) would be confusing for inactive participants. The acronym "MFGG" has appropriate brevity, and expanding upon it seems arbitrary atm unless something is fundamentally different with the purpose of the website.
