It's been a little while since we've had open applications for new MFGG staff. We've had several staff members leave over the past few months, and it's high time we got some more help to make sure that all of our queued submissions get processed quickly. You don't need to include any specific information, but be sure to write a paragraph or two reminding us why you're the best person for the job. You're eligible to apply as long as you have an account on the forums and mainsite, since QC staffers will need to maintain an active presence on both sides of MFGG. Parakarry: The Director of HR isn't a real person. It's just the name of an event account we set up for processing applications. This way, all of the admins can access the responses, which is better than having everyone send their applications directly to me. Mit: Ideally, a QC staffer would have the expertise to process multiple kinds of submissions - graphics, games, reviews, how-tos, music, and miscellaneous submissions. By volume, most of the submissions are graphics or reviews. However, we've usually been able to process those in a timely manner. Our biggest need is for people who can process games. Recently, it's sometimes taken us over a month to process borderline-quality games in the queue, and the turnaround obviously needs to be improved.

Have there really ever been viruses submitted to the site?

The worst thing I've ever seen anyone submit is a dodgy script that tried to read information about the MFGG server, possibly to help hackers identify a weak point in the system so they could break in. I'm pretty sure the security settings blocked execution of said script, but if they didn't, it should be blocked now. There's a reason we vet submissions before they appear on the mainsite. Someone uploading a Trojan could mess up a lot of people's computers, since the MFGG mainsite still draws a good amount of traffic. Most of the time, however, we decline games because they're of a very low quality and shouldn't be on the mainsite in their current form.

I think it was NCFC 2015 and I was looking at the entries before the event started. (by changing the url lol) There was a generic sounding fangame that didn't have any screenshots. So I got curious and opened it without thinking twice, but nothing really happened. It took me about 10 seconds to realize something fishy was going on. It turns out it was launching a script that deleted every file on your desktop. Apparently, NCFC staff thought that it wasn't necessary to test all games before accepting them. I could recover almost everything except for Flashback's design documents, but at least I noticed it before NCFC started so other people didn't get their files lost.

A decision will happen soon. Hang in there folks.
