NCFC is an online "fangame expo", an annual event inspired by SAGExpo from the Sonic fangame community. Like SAGExpo, one of the appeals of NCFC is exposing people outside the internalized (and possibly insular, in some cases) communities these fan projects are developed in to said projects, and to have a period of increased communication between fan communities. This is done through an event where they are showcased in a manner inspired by the likes of E3 and PAX. The gist of the event is that it's more than just the fangames - it's also like a bit of a party, with livestreaming (Which were usualy done by myself since 2012 or so), radio DJing (when it's available), a chatroom, contests and other sorts of events.
There's some ways that NCFC is a bit different from SAGExpo, mind;
1) SAGExpo is tailored towards Sonic fans, and specifically Sonic fans, and doesn't get as many non-Sonic-related entries. NCFC tries to cover as broad a Nintendo-oriented fangame scope as is possible that year, and as such tries to unite communities such as MFGG, MetroidHeadquarters, SerenesForest, ZeldaFangameCentral, etc. all under one roof for the event. (BTW, if I haven't posted in any of these communities yet, and someone else wants to bring them up there, please do! ... and post the Iwata vid!)
2) NCFC sets no clear distinction between fangames and "Totally rehauled" ROM Hacks, so ROM hack projects that completely change a game are more than welcome.
3) NCFC has been consciously trying to grow it's "indie" section, particularly with indie games done by fangamers/former fangamers. Therefore, anyone willing to submit an indie game demo is free to do so.
4) NCFC has not tried to reinvent it's layout drastically every year - which the apparent need of has been an issue in previous SAGExpos, causing delays.
5) NCFC has yet to feature big-name guests outside the fangaming community... although maybe someday that could change.
Besides this, it may be a good idea to check old NCFC and SAGExpo event archives to see how the previous events were like.
