MFGG Awards 2014 It's that time again, everyone! Another year has come and gone, and now is the time we recognize the games and contributors that make MFGG such an awesome place. We made a few tweaks to the list of categories this year, just to keep things interesting. As a reminder, MFGG Awards consists of two phases - the Nomination Phase and the Voting Phase. In the Nomination Phase, you nominate a name (in the individual categories) or a game title (in the games categories). The five people/games with the most nominations per category will move on to the final voting in two weeks. After the final voting ends, the staff will tally the winners and announce them in another topic. The winners receive an MFGG Awards 2014 badge. Who knows - somebody might even nominate you! Here's how the nomination phase works: 1. Copy this list of categories: Spoiler: Individual: BEST SPRITER Who consistently makes outstanding sprites? BEST COMPOSER Who makes you feel all kinds of emotion through music? BEST REVIEWER So thorough, helpful, and well-written! BEST PROGRAMMER Who writes amazing code and helps other people out of programming tight spots? MOST POSITIVE CONTRIBUTOR Who does the most and best work for MFGG and the forums? JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES This person's good at just about everything. MOST HELPFUL Always there to point you in the right direction. BEST ARTIST Who makes the most impressive artwork? BEST NEWCOMER What new member has contributed the most to the MFGG community? Fan Game: BEST GAME OVERALL There can be only one. BEST NON-MARIO GAME Because even Mario Fan Games Galaxy has some non-Mario stuff. BEST DEMO I can't wait until I get to play the final version of this game! BEST MINIGAME Maybe it's not a full game, but it's still awesome. BEST SPRITES I love those M&L ninja rabbits you used! BEST ENGINE Wow, this feels just like a real game! BEST LEVEL DESIGN Because nothing is worse than an impassable chasm. MOST POLISHED Everything about this game is great. MOST OVERLOOKED For that diamond in the rough that people haven't seemed to find yet. MOST ORIGINAL GAMEPLAY Whoa, this is new and exciting! MOST REPLAY VALUE Let's play again! MOST ANTICIPATED We just can't/couldn't wait for it. BEST STORY I was so involved! BEST CONCEPT Not your standard "Mario rescues the princess" game. BEST SECRETS They just kept you searching, and it paid off with awesomeness incarnate. BEST SETTING Because your standard grassland gets boring now and again. BEST USE OF SITE RESOURCES Special thanks to MFGG. BEST BOSSES This game's bosses really stand out! FUNNIEST GAME What game had the wittiest dialogue and the goofiest gameplay? BEST 3-D GAME Fangames aren't just for two dimensions any more. And a few more things just for fun! FAVORITE MOMENT I'm glad I didn't miss this in 2014! BEST USER NAME No one said you had to be named MarioFanLongStringOfNumbers! SEXIEST DICTATOR You knew it was coming. 2. Enter ONE name per category Please enter the name instead of the description, and leave the categories in this order. This makes it easier for us to count the nominations. Remember that you're not allowed to nominate yourself. 3. Send your nominations per PM to: MFGG Awards Nominations end on Thursday, January 15 at 11:59 P.M. Eastern time, so we can tally up the results and begin the Voting Phase the following weekend. Please try to fill out as many categories as possible. We reserve the right to omit a category in the final voting if only a few people vote in the nominations phase. If you need ideas for the game categories, take a look at games that won Game of the Month awards or Minigame Competitions in 2014, and submissions that consistently earned positive reviews on the mainsite. For the other categories, I recommend exploring the MFGG forums to find examples of quality work that you might've missed. If you're unsure about anything, don't be afraid to ask!

Sent in my nominations. This year was pretty good for fangames. There is definitely going to be fierce competition in Best Overall Game.

SuperArthurBros: You're supposed to keep your nominations private so other voters won't be influenced by your picks. This helps eliminate "groupthink". FD: Yeah, I was on the fence about adding a category for 3-D games. But exploring the third dimension is something I'd like to encourage on MFGG, and I saw some concepts from people other than just DJ Coco. Wrecking: Traditionally, we'd often throw in an award that's a bit more lighthearted! (No, you won't get a badge for being the hottest totalitarian leader.)

i barely follow fangames as it is, but i picked some stuff there's a lot of categories i just left blank simply because i had no idea what the hell i was gonna pick

I haven't played enough fangames this year to be able to fill out most of these (I could only answer two or three), so I probably won't send any nominations in this year, but good luck to everyone!
