Yeah, but there's one catch:

You and your partner have to work together as a team. You can't do most of the work and your partner does nothing. Both have to work together. Teamwork is key in this contest. Also if your partner leaves (If your working in a group of 2) you have to forfit.

Why not doing one of the options alone?

Well it's a partnership contest. You work with a partner to make a finish a project. Besides, it adds some flair to the project. I could ask the staff what they would want to do but it was the gimmick of the contest.

The tilesets shouldn't be SMW-exclusive. Otherwise, this sounds like a really fun idea.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear about that part. I ment inspired by Smw. Like what would a 16-bit snow tileset would look like on the SNES.

Also about judging:

3 judges would be picked to judge this contest:

• One would be the Level Design Judge
• One would be the Sprite Judge
• One would be the Music Judge

If the staff has a better idea, they can do it.

I'm not sure that the set judges is such a good idea.
We had tried this a number of times before in the early days of MFGG, and it simply never worked out.

The best way ended up being how it is handled now, by allowing anyone to vote on what they feel was the best, then tallying the total afterward.
In this case, the users could have the option to vote on a chain of entries, being a single, or in the form of top 5 in each category.

I would go with the ladder (voting on the top 5 in each category.)

My concern with this is that we're pretty cluttered up right now with events. We just had the Secret Santa, there is a drawing competition coming up (and a minigame and special competition after that) as well as the MFGG Awards.

We can do something after MFGG Awards perhaps. Considering it's still winter and snowy, the winter theme may still fit.

They start with the beginning of next year, so pretty much on the date you suggested for your event. First a nomination phase, then a voting phase and finally the awards themselves given out.

So uhh, both the awards and minigame competition are going on/finishing. Will this still happen or will it be scrapped?

MFGG Awards is still going to happen. Final voting ends tomorrow. After that, we'll tally the votes on Monday and announce the winners on Tuesdays.

Also, I'd like for us to start hosting competitions more frequently. We had only four Sprite Comps, four Music Comps, three Minigame Comps, and three Drawing Comps last year. There aren't too many MFGGers who enter every kind of competition, and I don't see any reason why we can't have multiple competitions going on simultaneously.

I support this.

If anything, we could make a comp. start at the middle of the current comp.
EX. Considering every comp. has 9 days of duration:
day 11th - Sprite Comp.
day 16th (5 days after SPR) - Music Comp.
day 21th (5 days after MUS) - Minigame Comp.
day 26th (5 days after MNG) - Drawing Comp.

You should probably get some info about what members preferences are. For example, I don't think many members do music much. On the flip side, there are many who draw, sprite and code. Thus, music can probably be held more frequently and independently to the others. Spriting and drawing would conflict so they shouldn't overlap. -Minigames might also conflict with the last two, though.

Perhaps, there should be discussion between competitions to see who would be interested in the next given competition. Then, decide whether or not to hold it, or allow it to overlap the current competition.

For example, if there aren't many people doing the current drawing comp, then there would be a discussion to see if people would be interested in beginning and overlapping the next spriting comp.

Competition frequency becomes based on community interest, so they're more likely to succeed.
