Normally caused by malicious Spyware/Adware, these can be very annoying,
Most spywares simply count how many times youve clicked on a banner,
though some, can cause some real havoc if your not careful.

Now, i know what you are thinking,
(But, Ive never looked at adult content online! Why is it advertising this stuff?)

You dont really need to have looked at that kind of thing, for the spywares to advertise thing,
The one in question is desighned to hijack the advertisments on the given site,
and place its own in,
As i said on the MFGG main site, a spyware scan should find, and remove this problem,

(Copy and paste from http://www.mfgg.net/index.php?act=main&param=02&id=423)
myself wrote:
Scan for Spyware/Adware.
Their are several known which hijack the advertisements on a website and place in their own.

Nothing here should be advertising adult content as far as i know (I sure as hell dont see any adult ads).

Spybot search and destroy should cover it.
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

this is a real problem, that hurts MFGG. and the people who make those spywares just make me sick.

-------UPDATE-------
If you see a bad advertisment, Email jaquadro@gmail.com With the Ad URL.

----Update 2------
Screenshot example of one of said ads supplied by supernova.
Taken using a cell phone

I generally see them in testing comps im suppose to fix,
(yes, a surf to MFGG is a common network test for me)

spywares are common, and since ive seen MFGG without any spyware active, i know when something is out of place. seeing a naked lady is definitely out of place [which i have seen in testing], if i see something out of place, it usually means their is a spyware active.

Those reports drove me to finally post my findings on this matter.

I don't see ads or anything like that anymore since I got Ad-Block for Firefox, but even before that, I've never seen any inappropriate content here on MFGG.

Thats what adblock is suppose to do,
Keeps advertisements from loading to begin with,

and if it does interfere with somthing, it has an option to disable it on a single page, site, or globally.

speeds up page loading times too. (without the ads to slow you down, thats to be expected really)

I moved this to the news board. If there's ads coming from spyware on the users' PCs, nothing can be done about it. If it comes from the ad servers, then maybe RII can change the settings to block adult content.

Thanks Guinea.

I assume that ads help pay for keeping MFGG up, so I think users should keep that in mind and only block ads if they're displaying malicious or adult content.

This is why Ive disabled adblock on MFGG,
ad the banners, aren't unreasonable,
No popup crap in your face, nothing like that,

2 banners on a page MAX ive seen so far,
and ive never seen an adult content ad, (except on an infected PC)

I honestly have my doubts that its the MFGG advertisement servers throwing this stuff up.

Mason wrote:
But as others have stated, I'm betting that if anyone is seeing adult content, it's caused by malware on your machine, not from MFGG itself.

All ads on MFGG are served through Google Adsense. If you encounter adult ads that you think are being served by google, please email their URLs directly to me, jaquadro@gmail.com. Otherwise, I think Nite has a good theory. I can't do anything about ads served up by spyware on someone's local machine.

thing is, MFGG needs some way to pay the bandwidth,
and Ads are an easy source of revenue to do so.

I shudder to think of what the bill for this place must look like.

The bill is not as bad as it used to be, after reconfiguring late last year. But then, ad revenue has fallen by about the same amount so it's still a break-even affair for me.

I have gone and tweaked the adsense settings as a precaution. It appears they have added new control options that simply didn't exist when I started using them. Adult content should never be considered a valid ad, so if you see one, report it to me.

Also remember that adsense works in funny ways. It knows where you've been and it will serve you ads based on that. I personally only seem to get ads for my own employer, and some toolkit vendors. If you spend all your time on porn sites, I can't really say what will happen. Well regardless, that kind of content should not be reflected here.

on a side note, Destroying the tracking cookie may help as well. (spybot detects it, though clearing your cookies will do the same thing)

Supernova supplied a screenshot example (uploaded in to the top post) of one of said ads,
This was taken using a cell phone,

Now, i have no idea if a cell phone can catch a spyware/virus/malware/ect.
however, in this case, the URL for the Ad needs to be copied,
and imediately reported to jaquadro@gmail.com
