Awesome entries, Kritter and K16. Hopefully I'll be able to fix some stuff up with mine by tomorrow.

And here's my entry after 8 hours of work. It's not a song from the mario universe (though it appears as bramble blast in brawl :D) but the rules said, Donkey Kong is okay, too. So I hope this counts :whoops: !

One of my favorite videogame music tracks:
DKC2 - Stickerbrush Symphony (Orchestration) @Soundcloud

Very epic sounding, pretty cool stuff. I kept feeling like it was building up to something though and in the end it was kind of just building up to the outro :P

Thank you :)! Actually I felt the same. I tried lots of stuff to make something epic after the building up but never got satisfied. I tried to make the drums more epic when the last part starts. Maybe I can come up with something on the fly :P!

DKC still counts.

And that sounds beautiful! Excellent mix!

Cool stuff! It's got a very movie trailer-esque sheen to it - all you need is a narrator! :)
Mind if I ask what plugins you used for the drums and how you went about getting such a wide sounding mix?

Also Kritter, your song sounds really cool! Your spot on with that disco-ish rave sound albeit the synths being a bit harsh. It's arranged really well!

Anyways, thanks to the kind words about my song - I've updated it a bit too; I just polished it and made the melody more pronounced by making louder and adding some extra padding via synths. It should still be the same download on the last page for those who are interested. :)

Thank you!
I mastered it using a limiter, standard compression and some standard equalizing tools.

Most of the plugins were Cakewalks studio instruments (cheap as hell. Best "cheap" orchestration instruments I've ever used).
Some kontakt 5 libraries which I also use in my recording studio. And some free and paid wavs (also for the drums) which I've collected over the years. And of course lot's of effects like delay, reverb, etc.

It just keeps sounding better and better. :D

Does it count if someone makes an 8-bit version of a song.

I'm pretty sure it counts as long as you don't just put the original midi into GXSCC or another bitcrushing software :P
