Congratulations to Supah-Luigi for winning the Drawing competition, And to DJ Coco, Novak, Supernova, and GravityGames for making top 6.
I was just contacted by Supah-Luigi, and unfortunately, he is unable to start the music competition as he cannot think of a theme. Therefore, I will set up the new theme for you.


The Theme: Reimagination
Image

  • Your task is to reimagine any existing track from a Mario game by remixing it in a different style.
  • Alternatively, you can also create your own unique composition to fit an existing event in a Mario game.
  • Wario, DK, and Yoshi series related entries are also acceptable.
  • You are NOT limited to just events. You are free to do Character themes, or levels as well, as long as they are related to an existing element.
  • To avoid any confusion or issues, please post a link to your reference, to verify you entry as an actual event in a Mario game.

Is it limited to official Mario games, or is stuff like pirate games, fan games, etc. allowed as well. I want to know just in case I get inspired by one of those sources...

I don't see why those would be a problem, save for fan games. (I don't see those being a problem, but I would like some input from Guinea before confirming.)
Pirate games however, I'm sure those are okay, we accept content ripped from them, I see no reason they can't be a reference.

Depends on how well known that fangame is, I guess. There are so many obscure ones that would broaden the theme to pretty much anything. I guess if you wanted to make something out of Psycho Waluigi, Blue Twilight DX or something like that, that would be acceptable.

I like, Juju! Would be cool with some added ride cymbals and such to strengthen the rhythm! :)

Anyway, I may as well put in my submission !! Initially I was actually going to do a jazz version of Good Egg Galaxy and then I saw Juju's entry... Coincidence? I think not, lol.
So, instead of finishing it I just made a different style of piece. :)

@K16: I suddenly want to hack SMG2 and put this track in place.

As for Juju, I like the arrangement a lot! The instrumentation's quite lacking, however, and I believe it could be much, much better. Overall a piece that shows a lot of potential, but doesn't quite make the most of it, sadly. Interestingly, it sounds quite Latin to me, too - maybe Yokota revamped one of his scrapped pieces for Gusty Garden?

I'm quite impressed by you, K16 - the orchestration and instrument quality is stellar! I think it could be a little bit more melodic, however, and having a bit more of a nostalgic feel might be nice. Overall, however, it's a nice homage to the Galaxies, and I think it's rather nice.

Kritter, I LOVE this, no joke! The synths, while a touch too hard on the ears, are amazing, and I absolutely love the percussion (sweeps included). I'm impressed without a doubt, and I can definitely see the effort put into this. All in all, I'd say this ties with a disco remix I've heard once for my favorite remix of this of all time.

I'd love to come up with something myself, but sadly, I'm too busy. Next time, hopefully!
