Alright, it's late (or early?) but here is my entry, not as complete as I'd like it to be, but one must work with the time one has I guess, so I hope you still enjoy this "proof of concept" if you will, and it's probably more interesting on the tech side than the gameplay side, as, admittedly, I spent a bit too much on the GBC-style before I went to start with the actual game.

Anyway, here you go:
Olimar's Adventure

Please read the readme.

Press 1 to toggle size,
Press 2 to toggle color mode (black/white, GBC and "shades of green")

Requires shader support, I suppose, but if your GFX-card can't do shaders, it should just be b/w, but I could not test this. Please understand.

For optimal enjoyment of the gameboy feeling, a gamepad is recommended (especially the Xbox360 Controller for Windows).

"Complete" entry

It's still June 24th in a couple of time zones, right?

EDIT: like Supernova, I recommend that you read the... um, README file. It has information on the controls, the Gradius mechanics, et cetera. There is one minor oversight about Ace difficulty having a tougher boss--after testing I decided to make it have the same hitpoints across all difficulty levels because it was just too much. Ace mode is Nintendo Hard already--it doesn't need a boss that can survive for much longer.

And I have to warn you--the default difficulty (Pilot) may be fairly challenging!

EDIT2: Alas, I have realized that the "complete" entry sends people to a test room with the boss instead of the actual level. If you want a better idea of this game as a whole I suggest you download the demo I posted before.

I am very sorry about this.

It seems I'm too stupid to play your game, Guinea. What do you do once you get the Pikmin?

You need to throw the Pikmin at the brick wall, so it starts damaging it.

Oh. Whoops. Sorry, I never played Pikmin before. Very neat game. The teardropping ending was beautiful.

Guinea, whenever I click the link, it says:
"Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to ginhost.webege.com"
I also tried in Internet Explorer, but it wouldn't open there either. I'm terrible with computers, so I have no idea what the problem is. :P

^Maybe there was a downtime can you try again? It works for me.

Looks like we may have a slight scheduling oversight,
The comp was scheduled to end on the 24th,
It is currently the 25th.

...Either that, or I'm overlooking a factor somewhere.

Oh it did end already. Can someone perhaps collect the entries for a voting post? I'm quite busy at the moment, so that would be nice, thank you!

Hang on there I missed one and you fixed all that up in mid-fix so there's one extra entry in there; may want to make note of that

Edit: Seems that was done, so all is well I reckon

Well, my entry is all I'm getting on that one.

Hmm.

Cops certainly has my vote, and both Guinea's and Nite Shadow's entries seem to be well made given their incomplete status. Roo's entry is weird and I don't like the art style, but it isn't bad.

Which leaves moonrat's and Nacitendo's entries, neither of which I like very much. In the end I'll have to go with moonrat's, because Nacitendo's uses too many palettes.

In summary, my votes are for:
* Hypernova
* Guinea
* Nite Shadow
* Roo
* moonrat

Hypernova
Captain Coconuts
Nite Shadow
Roo
moonrat

As I think all games besides Nacitendo's actually adhered to the color rule.

I realized I made an error in the version I submitted as my "complete" entry. The program sends players to room_test when selecting "PLAY" which was only meant for testing purposes, and I had forgotten to switch back to the main room before submission. The test room has nothing but a handful of flowers and the boss, though you still get the WORLD CLEAR screen and the ending cutscene.

Am I allowed to rectify this--or, if not, am I allowed to point people to the demo entry instead? If not, I suppose this is what I get for staying up so late...

I am very sorry about this.

Hypernova
Captain Coconuts
Guinea
Roo
moonrat

@Nacitendo: Way too many colors on this, plus the camera work is a bit glitchy.
Otherwise, this could become something.

@Cap'n Coconuts: Boy, I'm not sure. I'm afraid that I have my doubts about being able to do that at this stage in the comp though.
