While I don't necessarily think that LSF Games's entry is super-well-made (one can cause an endless stream of Toads to leave a house if the button is repeatedly mashed, and Mario moves a bit too slowly), I think it does the best in reflecting the theme of the competition. None of the other games seemed to really do anything with audio that connected to the gameplay. Using volume and position to figure out which house is playing the music was a brilliant idea.

I vote for LSF Games.

Did entries need to use audio as a gimmick in order to be valid? I thought the theme was to focus on audio. For example, a boss battle against a large robot. It's a normal game. However, there could be alot of sound depth added to the actions of the boss or game in general(Mechanic sounds, engines, steam, explosions, heavy foot steps, etc). Thats what I was gonna do for my entry if I joined (sound depth, not the boss fight).

Friendly Dictator. I like the way he uses audio (roaring) as a gameplay mechanic, and I think it's the most enjoyable game of the bunch.

It's not really a gameplay mechanic if you can still play it with sound turned off

I suppose it's more of an "Implied audio" mechanic.
Bowser is roaring, where the sound itself isn't part of the gameplay, the act of generating the sound is directly related to gameplay.

None of the games work for me (they all complain about "Error defining an external function.") so I can't vote.

^All these games use bass.dll (except Slash's, that one should work for you).
A problem that happens every once in a while is that bass.dll can't be correctly defined, and the solution to it is to log off and on again. So next time you log into your computer, try again.

And with that, MGC#1 2014 ends with the following results:

Final Results wrote:
Winner
IIIIIIII Friendly Dictator
Runner-Up
IIIII LSF Games
Top 5
III Mors
Slash

Congratulations to Friendly Dictator for winning, and LSF, Mors and Slash as well for your entries!
While we got less than 5 entries this time, the theme was a challenging one, because it forced us to think out of the box. That makes the few entries we got even more special, because their creators weren't afraid of leaving it and exploring the realms of an under appreciated aspect of games.

Maybe this competition inspires some future creations on MFGG!

A big thank you as well to the people who played all the games and gave their votes!
