Sorry about taking so long to start the next Minigame Competition. A broken computer and truckloads of classwork have limited the amount of time I could devote to MFGG-related things - although it's also true that October tends to be a slow month on MFGG, and people are busy finishing up stuff for NCFC around that time, so perhaps this delay is for everyone's benefit. Either way, congratulations to everyone who participated in the Education-themed competition, and thanks to those kind folks who voted for my quirky entry.

In an attempt to spice up this latest competition, I decided to give the ol' 48-hour competition another go. Previous iterations of these compressed competitions often met with a splendid turnouts, and ironically, the expedited timeframe has often led to some highly creative and entertaining games.

Competition Countdown and Theme

The theme will be posted here at 6 P.M. Eastern time on Friday, December 6. The competition ends at 10 A.M. Eastern time on Monday, December 9. Yes, this is a bit longer than 48 hours, for those who know how to count, but these additional hours will allow participants in different time zones to enjoy two full days of daylight to work on their projects. This competition will not be extended, so if there are no playable entries, no badges will be awarded, and someone else will get to choose the next theme.

Good luck to all!

I'm totally entering this one. I swear, if it's anything snow related, I got this.

Does Australia count as foreign? If so, I call "Mario's Outback Adventure" where if you take 2 steps, you're instantly murdered by a spider, snake or land-stingray, as so often happens in Australia.

Kritter: As long as the setting is a distinctive culture or environment, it should work for this. The Australian Outback would count. (Also, that game sounds fun.)

^Tbh, the "foreign" part is a bit misleading then. Can I make a game about the USA?

Guinea: Sure, why not.

So would a Mario themed pre-colonized Africa work? like toads as villagers riding yoshis?

Morrad: Yep! You can insert any Mario characters you want (or original characters, for that matter) into such an environment.

I'm making a 'The Great Stink' themed game where Koopas have polluted the Thames, then

Joke game incoming.

Edit: Actually, nothing is coming. This theme is one of the worst I've seen. Seriously, literally everything about it is just awful.

*checks theme*
Please tell me that Cairo is foreign enough.
I may even end participating at this competition.
If this is really Cairo, then I already know what I will do.

Hint: It has got something to do with a road roller, if you know what I mean.

Cairo should work great.

Are you running over pyramids and make the desert flat again?

Thanks. And nope, I had planned a platformer recreation of the famous Jotaro vs DIO duel from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
However, I just noticed that the spritesheets, which I have planned to use, are missing the stands and other important effects, so I can pretty much cancel this project, before I have even started it... :blank:
