Post subject:  Minigame Competition Rules

1. The same general rules apply as for Sprite Competitions

If anything of the following disagrees with the Sprite Competition rules, then the rule from this topic counts and overrides the SC rules.

2. Minigame Competition specific rules:
1. All programs entered need to be written between the start and the end of the competition

2. There is no need to re-invent the wheel. You are allowed to borrow some code from your old projects, based on "fair use" and your sense of fairness.
Do not try to use this rule to justify complete recycling old engines completely or similar.

3. Resources other than music/sound can be used from existing sources. Ripped resources are also allowed. These are mostly programming/game design competitions.

4. Minigames should be reasonably small in file size and runnable on the average user's system without having to download additional software.

3. Selecting a Theme
When you pick a theme, you should consider the following points, or your competition will have a bad turnout:
- Accessibility - The theme needs to be do-able by everyone entering. E.g. A theme for 3D games isn't a good idea when only 10% (if even that many) of MFGG can make 3D games.
- Time - The theme should be done in the limit you choose, either 24 hours or 7 days. A theme like Boss Rush is very risky. These things are called Minigame Competitions for a reason.
Also consider that the average entrant doesn't work 24:7 on their entry as most of us have (even though we spend our days on a Super Mario fangaming forum) a life.
- Variety - Don't over specify. Pick a theme that's broad enough to allow for creativity, but narrow enough to give inspiration.
